Good afternoon from our Christmas day here 24th, (tomorrow is a working day) we both woke up feeling a bit tired but went out at 8am to buy a leg of lamb from the market for our celebration dinner, we were going yesterday but Lisa was too weak to go out in the end. After our early morning walk to the market, we both feel invigorated...... I had the lamb and all the spices together with a kilo of chopped tomatoes, and a couple of fried onions in the slow cooker by 10am, after a flash roast in the oven for an hour. I always cook lamb in my version of a Moroccan tagine, with cinnamon, cloves, turmeric, paprika, garlic, ginger, cumin, cardamom, coriander and chilli. It will hopefully be melt in the mouth ready by around 6pm, we will have it with roast potatoes, peppers, mushrooms, and carrots. A couple of pics ....the start of slow cooking.. .......just now after 4 hours
I took a few photos of the dining room last night with a table decoration, that one of Lisa's students brought here as a gift in the evening, which was very fortuitous. I put all the presents I bought for Lisa on the side table, it looks a lot but most are simple everyday things.
Good Morning Everyone. I was supposed to be taking a break from the Forum for a short while but find I miss y'all and want to share the exciting things that are happening too. We are having all kinds of surprises this Holiday Season. Most of my siblings will be in either for Christmas or right around the New Year...so I'm going to have time with them that I did not expect to have at all. My sister who has the same birthday as me but is five years younger and her husband plus some of their kids and grandkids will be joining my Family for our Christmas Eve gathering late this afternoon...and we will get to meet the newest member Addy who is only six months old. I will be making white chocolate peppermint bark and a chocolate peanut butter bark, along with my mixed vegetable casserole to bring to the gathering. I heard my SIL's are doing a pork roast, brisket, and a fried turkey...while my daughter is doing a ham. We will have plenty of meats to choose from for sure. There will also be plenty of crawfish cornbread/dressing which we all love and many other sides and desserts. My Honey and I had so much fun playing Mr.& Mrs. Claus and getting all the grandkids presents wrapped yesterday. While neither of us like shopping very much...wrapping presents is something we can do at home at our leisure...and we find this is something we enjoy. While I was away from the Forum for a short while I managed to make some goodies to send to the employees at my husband's work place and since they do not have a Christmas party over there...they do enjoy finding sweet treats in the break room during the Holidays. Here in the USA it is Christmas Eve, wherever you are even if it isn't Christmas Eve...may we all feel the love, joy, and peace of this very special day.
Last year and this year, wife and I made bottle sand décor out of empty 1800 Tequila bottles. During the year, we love to have a margarita with Mexican food left-over from a dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant or what we got at Taco Bell. My wife gave her supervisor and her supervisor one of these bottles. Both were quite surprised to get something from my wife. Also gave them to the apartment office staff, to the very nice Receptionist we pay our monthly boat storage fee to and the lady manager at our boat service next to the dry storage. All were very happy to get these decorated bottles. Had a very nice Christmas Dinner of prime rib/me and lobster/wife with friends of ours that live by Daytona Beach. My wife has known them since they married in the 70's and known his wife since grade school. His wife and my wife done many things together during their high school years, including going to the World's Fair. They are boat owners and have a home both in Michigan and in Florida, aka, "Snowbirds". The husband retired from Ford Motor Company in Detroit.
merry Christmas everyone... I've just had breakfast... very posh today... smoked salmon mousse on toast...and Hubs had edible bronze coated smoked salmon fillets on toast...yummmy... We're not going anywhere today we did all of that yesterday... but instead I'll be helping putting the new bed together...lol I hope you all have a wonderful day and you come and tell us what gifts got for Christmas ..
Good evening to you all, it's been a busy morning, I went for a haircut and we went to a bank here to get some US dollars for our Mexican trip, you can get dollars here at the bank exchange rate with no charges, unlike the UK. I will mainly use Pesos but dollars are always handy. I have also been hanging plates and sorting out boxes fot us to take Lisa's house plants to a friends house, who will look after them while Lisa is in the UK. Here are a few photos from our Christmas celebration yesterday......
