Good morning everyone, up early today and finally feeling human again! We should get rain later and a high in the 50's. Plans are just to continue cleaning while listening to Christmas music....I'm alive again! Whatever I had lasted too long and really took everything out of me. Have a great Sunday!
Good morning all. It's December, it's Iowa, it's 6:30am and it's 60+ degrees, with some serious rain to hit at around 8am. I couldn't get to sleep last night until after 12, so I overslept this morning. Don't matter though. Being retired means, I'm on no schedule. That's one of the benefits. I had an aunt who kept on a schedule until they put her in a nursing home. She ate all her meals and did everything according to the clock. Guess it worked for her. Was gonna try to make it to the store and back before the rain hits but, I'm not in the mood to go anywhere or do anything. Just gonna kick back and poke around on the old 'puter and watch TV a bit. Maybe go liberal huntin and see if I can ruin their day. So, behave you all. If you can't behave, blame Obama.
Good Morning Seniors Only world... Pitch dark and really cold this morning... as per normal... just getting ready to leave for work...Chrissy I'm pleased to hear you're feeling so much better, what a relief it's horrid when you feel so low for so long... ..now can you wave that big magic stick over me now please..I've had this really bad lurgy for a couple of weeks now..and I just can't get rid of it. I never gets ''colds' but this one seems to have got a strangle hold on me, and caused a chest infection. I've tried all the usual generic over the counter meds but nothing is shifting it ...I'm working from home tomorrow so I may give the GP a ring and see if I can get something more potent, I definitely don't want this hanging around over Christmas. Btw talking of Christmas..my first ever Kindle Paperwhite came yesterday, my Christmas gift from my daughter...I opened it because I'm too impatient to wait until Santa comes..and I already downloaded my very first book...can't wait to be using it on my break at work today....ooh and it's got a beautiful retro Parisian cover of the Eiffel tower on it... So this week I've been spoiled with Gifts...got my New Ipad Air 2 from hubs as well...so now I have my Mac desktop ...my iphone, the Kindle, and the Ipad Air 2...hubs is calling me Gloria Gadget.. Have a great day everyone...
Good morning up early at 7 am as it's Lisa's long day at work and I am in charge of cooking a veggie curry for dinner, it's another cold day here at around 1c around 34 in old money, I have been waking up playing games on the forum, I guess I need to get up and begin the day. Have a great to your week whatever you are up to.
Yummy…Veggie Curry sounds so good and that should warm you up inside. Are you allowed tastes while it cooks or must you forgo it for your plan of "one meal a day"? that would drive me crazy. Stay warm and be well. Can you have Hot Chocolate?
Yes I do taste what I cook and have chocolate Kefir most days, hot chocolate with cream is another treat we both indulge in
Mornin from the east edge of Iowa. We have 52 overcast degrees at almost 5am. The rain has finally stopped. The bad news is, there's no snow in sight. More bad news is, I didn't win the lottery, and to top that off with the worst news, Obama STILL is in charge. So, with that, I'll wish you all well today. Behave yourselves. If you can't behave, slap the snot outta someone you don't like.
Thank you Lara .......Toot Toot always reminds of Toady in "Wind in the Willows" which I remember seeing at the theatre on a school outing when I was about 10, have vivid memories of it to this day.
Darkness prevails...it was past nine o'clock this morning when the street lamps finally went out. Still, only another eight days and we shall start to see more daylight. No veggie curry here, although there quite often is. I had a sudden idea to make miser wat, which is essentially a spicy lentil stew common to Ethiopia and Eritrea. I found it surprisingly easy to be a vegetarian in those countries, even though a lot of food is meaty there. They have two "fasting days" where no meat is eaten. "Fasting" is a bit of a misnomer; all it means is that no meat is eaten and I got quite a lot of recipe ideas from the vegetarian dishes served on those days.
Lisa has 2 refrigerators here the one we use all the time is 34 years old and has never been repaired, the other is used in autumn for apples and some party times belonged to her father, so lord knows how old it is, it seems Russian refrigerators never die. We did look at a new one a few months ago in case the main one stopped working, but it hasn't so can't face throwing it out as it works really well.
Good morning everyone. I've been, and still am, having computer problems. It's been a warm week. Friday tied the record for high temp set in 1929. I was outside at 7 am in shirtsleeves hauling limbs. It all changed Sunday and rained all day. Still above average temps though. Going to the store today to stock up on groceries and medications. 'sposed to cool off and get back to normal temps by Wednesday. I hope everyone is doing well.
