Mornin fellow seniors, and seniorita's. It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas here on the east bank. We have 16 cool degrees with enough wind to make it feel like 5 degrees. The skies are clear and the ground is still brown and ugly.
Had all my Christmas shopping done early. Because I can't deal with going out and buying gifts, or even shopping online, I gave my kids each a hunk of cash. Not gonna do that next year. Why? Because rather than use the cash for their families or selves, a few family members spend it on me. So, if I'm still here, fit and able, next year I'm donating the cash amount to three different charities in their name.
Well friends, if you gotta go out, be careful and behave. If you can't, have good insurance and an air tight alibi.:D

Good morning everyone. A cold start this morning but 'sposed to get to mid 50s this afternoon. Got a fresh chain on the chainsaw and ready to cut some trees today. Cleaning up the property one area at a time. No big trees to cut today but some are big enough to provide some firewood.

Enjoy whatever weather you're having where you are. It's all good.

Good morning everyone, at my daughter's now for 2 weeks. Up early and everyone is still asleep. Raining and chilly today.

Holly, we are the crazies going to the mall in San Jose today. Leaving at 7:00 am. My back is hurting too.

It always does after I get a shampoo in those chairs at the Beauty salon. She even cushions it for me with a towel but still must press on a nerve.

Then to add more pain...when I got back to daughter's house since they have 4 cars, I have to park on the street and it's a hill. I needed something from my trunk and I reached in and the trunk came down on my back....ouch!

Also, woke up coughing again....they have the heat on at night and I think it gets too dry for me.

Have a great weekend! Mine will be hectic.

So as not to waste the whole day doing nothing constructive, I just finished my most hated chore, laundry. Now, it's only 9:45am and I got the rest of the day to screw something up, or just do nothing. Sounds like a good plan. I'm hungry. Gonna go chow down now. :D

Had a change of plans. I looked out this morning and not a ripple on the water. It has been so windy lately I was glad to see a calm day. So instead of cutting more limbs I decided to burn the mountain of limbs I already had piled up. I started about 9am and had most of them burning by noon when my wife came out with the bbq tools and a bag of marshmallows. no need to let a good fire go to waste.

Good morning everyone it's unseasonably warm here at 9c ( 48f ) and we are celebrating Christmas day, as we will; be apart on the 25th. I will be busy cooking and having fun.

Enjoy your Sunday whatever you are doing.

    Good Morning all...

    Checking-In-To-See-How-You-Are.gif

ooooh Chrissy... I feel for you with the back, I hope it's survived the shopping yesterday, I can imagine just exactly how you feel. I'm also the same as you at Hair salons, I wash my hair in the shower before going to the salon 9 times out of 10..simply because it hurts like the devil to lean back...so she just spray wets my hair before cutting it, then blow dries it. It's been ages since I've been able to get a colour put in my hair at the salon because I can't sit therre for 3 hours..too painful, so I do home colouring.

I've also done exactly that with the Boot lid...had it fall on my back while getting something out when it's been parked on a hill..it's always when you're feeling at your most tender these things happen isn't it?......anyway I hope you're not feeling poorly today and your throat is better.

This morning I'm tracking a package that I ordered from Amazon yesterday...it's been on the truck since 7.20am this morning at the depot 15 miles away ...it's 9.30m now, so hopefully he won't be too long depending on which direction he'll be doing his delivery, we might not get it until tonight...no biggie as long as we get it today!

Bit grey and damp here this morning...we've had very little sun so far this December which is quite unusual, I often get my best photos during this month..but instead we've had a lot of damp and verrrry windy weather...so that's not fun at all..

Whatever you're up to folks....enjoy your Sunday...

Mornin. It's 30 something degrees here on Iowa's east beach. Supposed to hit near 50 under clear skies, assuring us of yet another snowless, ugly brown day.
My kids keep inviting me to their houses for Christmas, and I keep declining, choosing to stay home. I hope they understand. I'd like to be with them, but getting in and out of cars that are unfriendly to older, less agile people is a major struggle. I can't walk without aids, or climb steps, then to have to sit in furniture that's so low to the floor as to be almost impossible to get out of without help, is just too much.
I can't remember living in a house that didn't involve steps, some quite a few. I do remember, vaguely, an incident that happened when I was about four years old.
The house we were living in had a back porch. There was about 3 or 4 steps with a cement walk at the bottom. I had to keep my trike on the porch. Well, one morning I wanted to ride it and didn't want to wait until our live in caretaker had time to get it down for me.
So, as I struggled to get it down myself, it hung up on the door frame. I gave a tug from the top step. The trike let go and over backwards I went, landing on my head on the cement walk, trike on top of me. Our neighbor lady said she heard my head hit the walk. Sounded like someone dropped a coconut, she said.
There was no way to get me to a doc. All the dad's were in the military then (1944) and any older men with cars were at work. There wasn't much blood, so they kept me awake and used cold, wet cloths on my head. And that's how I became the crazy old man I am today.
The house I bought had a long flight of steps down a terrace in front. One winter morning I started down these snow covered steps, slipped on one ice covered step and bounced down all the rest, hurting my back pretty bad. Steps are trying to kill me.

image.jpg Good morning everyone! Feeling less achey today so that's good.

Holly, why don't they make those shampoo sinks differently, we can't be the only ones who have problems. I dread it but don't get my hair done that often. That's why I choose highlights, you can go longer. I did try at home color and it was looking good at first but after awhile not so good, also had trouble doing the back.

Anyway, today we are going to Carmel, my favorite town on the Monterey Peninsula. It has a very quaint European style downtown and lots of good restaurants. Daughter has some business to do there so we will go and then have lunch.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Good morning everyone it's already 11c ( 52f ) and my last full day here before I leave for home tomorrow evening, it's always sad saying farewell to Lisa, but it is never for very long.
Have a great day everyone as we get ever closer to the Christmas season.

Yelagin Island which we often visit in all seasons.

Mornin all. It's only 3:30am and I'm already up. Why? I have no idea why. Anyway, it's 48 degrees with rain soon to hit my beloved Iowa. Let 'er rain. If I can't have snow, rain is next best thing.
Been seeing hoverboards on the news lately. I guess you stand on 'em as they whisk you along. I see it as another new fad to keep our young 'uns from walking. Seems the boards are catching on fire. They look like a bad idea anyway.

My mom, bless her soul, was convinced I'd kill myself when dad bought me a bike. And, a few times I nearly did. But, as I look at todays youth and all the battery powered or electronic junk they need to play with because they're imaginations have been destroyed, I give thanks.

So, merry Christmas y'all, from ol' Iowa Ike.

haha, Ike. I was reading along about your childhood and your mom and enjoying your reminiscent photo of life on the farm...
Then I fell off my chair when I saw the last photo….ho ho ho, you nut.

    Morning all....well it's actually just past mid-day here so ... 2f9d0d2be37724de29979620518504d2.jpg

I've been working from home this morning...also waiting for my GP to call me back from the surgery about some questions I have related to the latest meds I was given for the RA, I've been waiting for her to ring for the last 3 hours, and I know at this time of year she's probably snowed under with patients.......trouble is I want to go take a shower, and I know for sure she will call when I'm in there...

I have another MRI scan to undergo at 5pm this evening at the hospital...not looking forward to that..it's for the herniated discs in my back again..and to see if I'll need more surgery in the New Year. Only just had surgery on it last March and it took months to recover..

Anyway..enough of the misery....hope you're all having a good day..:)
