Yeah they are old...and joked that they may soon be dead. One talked about arthritis, spinal stenosis, and the problems with being old.

    Mornin' folks..

    Have-A-Wonderful-Thursday-Fairy-Glitter-Picture.gif

It's a lovely warm summer morning after a few days of cloud and rain..

I've been out in the garden trimming back the ivy around the brick shed, that stuff grows like crazy so it's a constant job to keep it neat.

Taken delivery of 3 items this morning .. and a new vent for the drier as well...

Also, my daughter sent me a little pouch of the ashes of our recently departed labradoodle, so I can get them made into something or spread them in the garden with a little memorial, he so loved our garden. I loved that big boy, he was such a darling dog!!

Hubs isn't too well, he's rarely poorly, but he's worked all week over 55 hours so far despite being so unwell , and each night he's come home and gone straight to bed..last night he was in bed by 7.30pm ...but I'm happy he's only got today to work ( 12 hours), and then he has a few days off , and hopefully get well again.

have a super day everyone..and anyone who isn't feeling too good.. I hope you're better soon..

I NEVER liked working that many hours in one day. That's why I quit EMS/EMT work and went into manufacturing. Monday thru Fri. 7AM to 3:30PM. No overtime and that was totally fine with me. Didn't need the extra money that much.

I thought you said you'd never worked more than an 8 hour day Cody?

Incidentally, my husbands' hours are not overtime, they are his standard hours!! 12 to 15 hours depending on the job he's doing that day...

For a few years, while I was an ambulance driver/attendant aka EMS, I worked a 24 hour shift and slept at the office the Unit was parked at. that 24 hour shift would usually be four times a week, including weekends. Besides the hours involved in EMS, I decided I wanted my weekends free to have some fun. Anyway, after those three years, I went into warehouse/shipping/receiving/stockroom work for manufacturing companies. From the time I quit the EMS thing, I only worked an 8 hour shift all the way to my last job that I left in Oct 2007.

You know, Holly, how some people won't take a job for different reasons, well, after my EMS years, I swore I'd never take another job where I had to work more than 8 hours a day...…...and I didn't.

yes I understand totally @Cody Fousnaugh , if you can get an 8 hour job paying enough to finance your lifestyle, who wouldn't take it?..or preferably the least hours possible lol...

However.. in my husband's profession, 8 hours is rarely an option ( even tho' he's one of the bosses) ...and it wasn't an option in mine either..

Yes, that is the key three words, isn't it (in red above). For the most part, my hourly salary, before I met my wife, took care of me and my lifestyle. Thing is, I really didn't have much of a lifestyle, except for weekend rodeos. My horse was taken care of at the stables I had him at. None of the horse tack I had was expensive, but did have to splurge some on buying my ropes or going out on a date. Did very little dating, so didn't have to worry about that.

We have just ended the longest dry spell of the month of August, and it lasted just 3 days. It is back to rain and wind today. Soon there will be no leaves left on the trees. Tourists come up here in August thinking it will be the warmest month as it is in much of the rest of the Northern Hemisphere, but here it is the rainy season when things start to cool down. I am alone today, and my hospice visit was cancelled as his wife thinks the patient will die soon and wants to be with him when he goes. Little does she know that people seldom die when they are being watched unless they choose to pass while you are with them. Usually they wait to be alone to die.

People usually wait to be alone to die?...how do you know that Don?.. and why do you think that might be?...could it be simply that they have nothing else to concentrate on..( that sounds glib) but you know, perhaps nothing to keep them alert/alive...

That was something that was taught in the hospice classes. They said that if someone dies when you are there it is because they WANT you to be present when they die. That is why when people gather at the side of a terminal patient, they almost always wait until everyone is gone to die. I have seem that myself. When my mother-in-law was near death, we gathered all the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at her side. We were there for a week and nothing happened, then we had to leave, and as soon as we left, she passed. I have seen the same thing a number of times. Strange, huh?

    Good Morning, everyone!

Holly, I was going to ask you, since you seem to really enjoy your "alone time/space" when your husband is at work, what will you do, and how will you feel, when he does end up retiring for good?

Cody unless he gets sick, please god that doesn't happen...and can no longer work, my husband is in a profession where they work until they don't want to or physically can't any more.. he has no intention of retiring..and even if he had , he's only in his 50's so he's not anywhere near retiring age..

..however you're right, I couldn't cope with him under my feet all day...neither of us could.. but we do have separate hobbies and friends as well as stuff we do together, and we do take holidays abroad a lot too.., and I'm sure we'll plan for those days in the future and ensure as best as we can stuff to do that keeps us from choking each others' throats.. , health willing... lol
