I think Chrissy is having a break again Cody.. I could be wrong, but she sometimes does that for a while.. I hope all is well with her, I think we'd have heard something by now if not!! Evening all..I've been neglecting this thread for the last few days.. busy doing other things in the morning the last few days... @Terry Page ..how is the doctor suggesting you lower your cholesterol?.. in fact how has that happened?.. you don't eat high fat foods do you, and only one meal a day I believe, and your also very slim too... (not that all of that is the only thing to cause high cholestrol I know) anyway I hope they get it in check for you....and you enjoyed your dinner at Hickory's... *waves* to @Maryt Hope ..hope all is well with you too.
The last time I chatted with @Chrissy Cross , she said that she wanted to get more involved with her life outside of forums, and might not be posting very much for a while. Even so, I have been concerned about her, and I know we all miss her being here with us; so I hope that she will at least just check in every now and then and lets us all know that she is busy having fun in real life.
Here are some photos I took of the family dinner last night.... It was pretty full when we got there and it's evidently fully booked for a couple of weeks ahead, the girls called in there when it opened and booked then, which was good because we wouldn't have got in otherwise. I had the pulled pork dish which was good There is even a small cinema for children showing continuous movies We finished off the evening with a half hour or so of ping pong outside in the grounds, a nice dining area for summer evenings...
The total cholesterol was only 5.1 with a ratio of 3:7 which is excellent at my age @Holly Saunders and it was that 30 years ago before the drug companies lowered the figure to less than 5, I eat a lot of full fat cheese, butter and yoghurt which would account for the slightly raised levels. I said I would cut down on the fats and refused statins, so we discussed my high BP issues and my enlarged prostate instead I have a new drug to try and managed to get a 4 months prescription of my other pills to cover my time out of the country. I like these student appointments because they are so enthusiastic and you get at least half an hour to discuss things.
Well I hope all the meds ( for the prostate and the BP) and the reduced fat intake helps a lot..( I'd forgotten about the cheese) yes the student consultants are good to get, no rushing..and they always go and check with a qualified consultant if they're not sure. My student consultant (John) let me have a whole hour last month while he checked and double checked everything, and after consulting with the Specialist across the hall... sent me for every test he could think of..lol...
Today has been a funny one, it was a beautiful sunny morning so I walked to our local Tesco supermarket to buy some odds and ends, it's normally a 15 minute walk, but it took a good 30 minutes today. I got back intending to do some gardening but was on the verge of collapsing, so spent the rest of the day in bed half dozing. I found the cause after checking my BP which had fallen to 95/55 so I was Hypotensive, hence the weakness it was ok though I needed a rest and feeling weak I don't mind at all The funny thing was when I checked the walk from Jerusalem to Bethlehem the other day on Google maps, it was given as 2 hours, so Google must have tracked my walk to Tesco this morning, as it has increased the walk to Bethlehem to almost 3 hours when I just checked I hope you are having a good day.. A photo I took this morning of the Tamarisk tree in the garden, it's beautiful at the moment.
Good Morning everyone! I do hope all of you are doing well. @Yvonne Smith I am finally getting to see the JA flowers in full bloom. They are the pretty and bright yellow I like so much and I can't wait until more of them are in full bloom. The plants are so tall that we will be moving the tubers out of our flower bed when they finish blooming and we will plant them in a more appropriate place now that we know more about them. I have been keeping busy going to the Health Club at least an hour 3 days a week and it is making a difference in my health and muscle tone, etc. Now that I have it down to a regular routine and have been going long enough to see and feel the difference I am glad I finally got serious about going on a regular basis. With a new grand child coming by the end of next month and so many others to keep up with I really do need all the strength and endurance I can get now days. Although I just go to the Health Club 3 days a week, I also have been using my home exercise equipment or going swimming at my daughter's home two other days of the week. When it gets cold over here I can swim at a Health Club over here that has an indoor heated pool. Often my Honey comes swimming with me and that's really nice too. I'm still taking steps out of my comfort zone in other areas besides joining the Health Club...and it gets easier with each step I take. Life also gets busier with each step I take too. I play the Word game with my sister who is losing her speech, etc. It's really strange that she can hardly make a sentence out of her mouth now that any of us can understand, yet she can play the Word game with no difficulty at all and also type messages to us that we can understand too. We are all finding new ways to communicate with her...but it is very hard for her to not be able to speak the words out of her mouth that she wants to say to us. And we all are doing our best to help her realize she is still herself and we all love her just as much as we always did. Life is good right now and I realize how blessed I am to still be a part of it. I also realize how important it is to jump in and enjoy life as much as possible instead of watching TV all day or even playing on the Computer for a good part of the day. So I want all of you to know that even though you won't see me here all the time anymore...I think about all of you often and pray that God is blessing your lives just like He is blessing mine. And like today when I have the time I will drop in and say hi and let y'all know if there is anything new going on in my life too. Enjoy your weekend. I'll be helping my grandson celebrate his 2nd Birthday this weekend and watching the LSU game with my family. Family and good food weekend...my kind of life for sure.
You're so sweet @Babs Hunt , and the matriarch of such a loving family. I'm pleased you're looking after your health and everything is looking more positive for you, because I know that along with your sister's bad health you've spoken about other family ailments too.. but you seem all such a strong family emotionally and I think your trust in God helps very much with that... be well.. and give your sister a hug from all of your friends on here, while we pray for her not to be in pain!!
Feeling a lot better today though I feel awful when I first wake up, hopefully the side effects of this new drug will wear off in time. I am having some alone today, Cathy has gone with Mike to Wales and staying overnight in their camper van. On Sunday the girls and myself are going to Manchester for the day, I will spend some time with my BIL John, while the girls go to some event at a BBC studios nearby. Lisa is going to the dacha for the weekend to sort out the apple situation there, and bring some back to make apple charlotte. Have a good weekend everyone...
Good morning everyone... It's a glorious sunny morning... I was just getting dressed and preparing to leave for the hospital and visit with my consultant when I got a call from his secretary to say he has had to be elsewhere today and my appointment has now been changed to next Monday instead!! Irritating at best given how long I've waited for the results..but with the NHS system this happens often..so nothing to do but wait it out again!! Gonna spend the day changing the beds lol.... I might go out later this afternoon and walk a mile or 2 around the lakes .. Have a super start to the week everyone.. and good luck @Chrissy Cross
Good Morning, everyone! This week is our Senior Flu Shot week and continuing to prepare for my laser cataract surgery on Oct 3rd. Since my wife is, like myself, a Diabetic II, she has to see the colonoscopy doctor for a consultation this week, before she can get her colonoscopy. This coming weekend will most likely be the last weekend we can take our boat out. Due to rain, t-storms, heat and humidity, haven't taken it out at all this summer. Have started, and let it run to operating temp, but that's it. The tide is just right this coming weekend, but just don't know who the wind, heat and humidity will be. After this weekend, will have to take everything out of the boat, including batteries, for winter. Won't be able to take it out after my cataract surgery. Wife is continuing to pack some things for our move.
