It's past 9pm here, not long before I need to go to bed......and it's been a very hard day...everything that could go wrong, went wrong ..including a celling falling down at work caused by the storms and rain gushing in and drenching everything.. ....so the less said about my work day the better..I think..LOL

Ike...good news about your cousins wife...may she continue to get well.!

Thanks for all your good wishes about my back...accch...backs, whadda they know ?...nuthin' I tell ya...because even after I had a good talk with it and told it to be on it's best behaviour , it just ignored me...no manners these backs ..:rolleyes:

Anyway...let's keep fingers crossed for a much easier day tomorrow...for me and for you all...:D

Ohhh btw I had to have some bloods taken last Friday....it's usually a straightforward procedure ..and I never bruise....but look at the mess they made of my arm this time...and we're nearly in Tuesday?...4 inches in Diameter ... and it HURTS too... :(...now that wasn't a very nice thing to do to me was it? LOL

Good morning to you all, I woke at 6.30 am to a calm dark morning, at 3c and as Holly mentioned rain later. The last but one school run today then back home to Worcester to prepare for our next vacation on the 18th to Sri Lanka for three weeks. I never look forward to these travels any more, but enjoy them when I am actually there.
Have a great Tuesday wherever you are and may your day be all you want it to be.

In the past I had a couple of border collies, just like the one you posted Joe, ............brought back pleasant memories, they are wonderful dogs but they need a lot of exercise, which this one obviously had :)

Good morning on this frosty, frigid, frozen Iowa Tuesday. It's 6:30AM, still dark, cloudy, cold and windy. I heard the wind howling all night. It kept sayin, "come out and play, Ike".
The weather girl says it's 5 above zero with wind gusts up to 25+ MPH. That makes the wind chill down to, OMG! below zero.
Did I ever tell you about the time I worked for the little metal fabricating company in a city up river from my town?
Well, I was hired on late in the fall of 1961. The company got a huge contract from John Deere for stackable storage units. These had to be made from heavy angle and channel iron, and would be about 10 Ft. long when finished.
Many truckloads of angle and channel iron was hauled in and stacked in the yard because the little shop building was way too small. My job was to man a power hack saw and cut each piece of angle and channel iron to the required length, and square off the ends. It looked to be a long, cold job.
Well, as it got colder and snowed, there I was, standing outdoors beside that power hack saw, manually loading, unloading and checking each piece of iron, then stacking the cut pieces into neat piles, to be moved indoors as needed. I had a big surplus military parka that was pretty comfortable, but my boss took pity on me and gave me a steel barrel with a few holes punched in the sides. He said to gather all the scrap wood lying about and build a fire in it for a bit of heat.
One morning as I was about to light my little furnace, I discovered I had no matches. I had already dumped a bit of gas in the barrel, to quick start the fire. As I was heading into the shop to get some matches, my old pal John was coming out for something. He went over to the barrel, struck a match, leaned in, reaching down to light some cardboard in the bottom and 'POOF'! the gas fumes ignited, sending poor John back a few steps. His glasses were smoked over and his hair in front slightly singed, otherwise he was unhurt. John blamed me for not warning him.
That outdoor job lasted all through the cold, snowy, windy winter. When it was over, I was kept on for another year, until the orders fell off, then several of us were let go.
So, keep warm if you go out, and behave yourselves. If you can't behave, don't light no fires.

Good morning, y'all! That looks nasty, @Holly Saunders. I hope it isn't too tender. I hate giving blood for any reason, because my veins like to hide and my arm always gets bruised.

It's a beautiful morning here. The cardinal couple has already been here for a visit, as well as a blue jay. I couldn't get any pics, not even blurry ones, because they're skittish and get alarmed when they see me there with the camera. They swooped in for a quick bite, then dashed off. I wish my area had underground wires the way the next town does. I'd love to be able to get better pictures off the balcony without visible wires. If I'd had more energy, I'd have gone down to the beach for sunrise pictures. The sun was a bright red ball behind the trees, but it was too low and obscured for any decent shots. It's 43 degrees, which is pretty cold for these parts. We haven't had any really cold weather here yet, though. The birds are fed, but I haven't gone downstairs to feed the kitties, the fish or myself yet, but that's about to change. Hope everyone's having a great day!

News flash! My local TV station advised parents to check for school late starts and early dismissals, because of the cold. I don't get the late starts. Two or more hours from now, it's still gonna be cold. And the early dismissals don't make much sense. If the lil' snots are already at school, why the early dismissal? It's only cold, not a coming storm, fer Pete's sakes.

Good morning everyone! Sunny and 60 today and I'm finally in a better mood. Yikes Holly! That sure looks painful, so far I've not had any problems with blood draws. I'm always told I have nice juicy veins. I do have problems with results though. A few times they couldn't get a reading because my blood had clotted. So now I tell them to make sure it gets where it's supposed to quickly because I hate fasting for a redo.

    Have a wonderful day! :)

Mornin' you all, from the great frozen east rim of Iowa. We have 5 above zero at 12:30am on this Wednesday. It's supposed to get up to the mid 30's later. Don't know why I'm up at this hour. I guess I just needed a hot cup of coffee.
Got grub comin later. I'm kinda hungry now though. Don't know if I should eat a breakfast or try to hold out 'til around noon when my grub comes.
Speakin of noon, did I ever tell you about the lunch I had with Jimmy? Whose Jimmy? Glad you asked.
Back in 1960-61, when I worked in the big city 30 miles up river from my town, I was employed by a small steel fabricating company. There was only about 10 full time employees and a couple part timers. Jimmy was an older, full timer who was the company's number one welder. He worked in the upstairs of the building, all by himself. Reason being, he usually worked on pressure tanks, and Bill, the boss and owner, didn't want Jimmy being disturbed while he worked.
One noon hour lunch period, Jimmy was heading out the shop door to go to lunch. Most employees ate at the shop, but a few lived close enough to either go home or to a nearby restaurant. As Jimmy passed by me he said "c'mon Ike, I'll buy you lunch. We can walk, it's only a block". So, off we went, up a side street, right past a small greasy griddle diner and into a dingy little neighborhood bar. I was thinking "Oh, crap".
We had an hour for lunch. Jimmy kept us supplied with beer while we dined on pretzels and peanuts from the bar. It turned out, Jimmy heard I lived in the same town down river as did two of his sisters, who he hadn't seen for some 12 years, due to a falling out between them. Jimmy wanted to know if they was still around and alright. It so happened, my wife worked with one of them but knew both. He was pleased to hear they were fine.
We headed back to the shop, hoping to arrive before Bill, the boss got back from his lunch. No such luck. Bill happened to be standing right by the door as we came in. Jimmy went right upstairs, as usual. Bill looked at me and knew I'd been drinking. "Ike, you go help Jimmy the rest of the day". I didn't like the tone of his voice, but did as he said.
Jimmy put me to work sweeping out the whole upper floor and dumping trash barrels. As quitting time rolled around, I feared the worse, thinking I was about to be fired. The boss took me aside and into his cluttered office. There Bill told me he knew about Jimmy's drinking habits, but drunk or sober, Jimmy was the best welder he had, however, if I came in half drunk again, I was fired. Bill was smiling when he said that, but I knew he meant it.
So, y'all be careful, and behave yourselves. If you're working, don't have lunch with anyone named 'Jimmy'.:D
