    Good Morning, All!

Seen my new VA doctor yesterday and I really like her. My wife feels the same way (she was with me). She is originally from Puerto Rico and speaks excellent English. I complimented her on it. Renewed my prescriptions and got a new Colorado Handicap Placard. Had a Florida one before. Done labs and, luckily, was able to give a urine sample.

Today, we renewed our membership with the PRCA/Pro-Rodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs. Have had it before and absolutely loved going to the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies in the middle of the year. All of the State rodeo queens are there, plus some famous rodeo folks of the past that are already inducted into the Hall. The Ceremony includes a luncheon that is very good.

The National Western (Denver) Stock Show and Rodeo starts tonight and we are going sometime next week. Love the rodeo and looking at all of the livestock.

Oh what a joyful morning. Sydney copped more rain overnite. Some regional areas that were in a two year long dry spell have also had a good drenching. More and more fires are now being contained but we aint out of the woods with further heatwave conditions forecast.

A good good morning fellow Boomers. I woke to be the best morning in months with the sound of thunder rumbling and heavy rain falling. Our meteorologists say it will definitely fall over our fire grounds and even our parched inland.. sadly insufficient tho to break our long dry spell. Still cant grumble. This is a joyous morning for all us Australians.

Good morning Boomers. It is almost 5 am on Saturday morning in Sydney and I have been awake since 4. Insomnia strikes me is various ways. It used to keep me from actually sleeping more in the past. Now older it strikes me after I have been asleep.. like today. Sleep doctors do say insomnia is stress related. I have to say I have been stressed lately what with the terrible fires ravaging my state and country plus some closer to home problems. Two of my pride and joys are full healthy lawns and a clear swimmable pool. With the long dry spell we have been put on strict watering restrictions which means sprinklers and hoses are out. The result my healthy lawns are dying before my eyes. Some hope tho after good rainfalls this week. As for a clear swimmable pool mine is looking like a dirty pond after a hailstorm a few days ago washed a wheelbarrow sized load of palm tree debris and dirt into it. On top of that my pool pump decided to pack it in..so I have been without filter use for over a week. Still there are far worse off people than I. Some 2,OOO homes were destroyed from the devastating fires in my state alone. My heart goes out to them. It is now 5am and I am no closer to returning to beddie byes.

Morning Boomers. Not sure this interests any others. But Milla Jonas and I are celebrating our National Day today. I regard our current date Jan 26 as inappropriate for our national day..primarily because our Indigenous people regard it as "invasion day'' by European settlers and due to it being a colonial appointment. I'd much prefer it was changed to the day Australia the colonial nation became Australia the soverign and independent nation..on Jan1,1901. Naturally this clashes with New years Day so is not popular. Then make the national day the day the first government of the Commonwealth of Australia sat. That was as I understand it Jan 9,1901. This is a sure way of recognizing this nation and the huge steps it has taken since 1788 and will appease our Indigenous people. What is your view @Milla Jonas.

    9E6DE25A-A0D4-4B14-A4B6-EB48732E30B5.jpeg Well ......
This is a touchy subject @Craig Swanson for years nothing was said about 26th Jan being Australia Day
Then someone got on their 7B54CAF1-D5AB-41BC-843E-59A62CD92ADC.gif and started about invasion day ....We are not to blame for this we wasn’t even born ...Well you did ask my opinion Craig ....My poor soapbox is getting worn out ..can you make me a new one out of an old time box like this please ..I use this for my recycle stuff by the back door till it gets tipped into the bin

Maybe one day we will have to do the same with people who are coming here wanting to change our ways of life we’ve always known :(

Maybe we should start referring to our immigration problem as an invasion. Perhaps that will get someone's attention.

It is touchy Milla. I recognise where we all came from. But reckon it is time to move on and forge our own identity. That needed to be done in 1901. Before the past few years we all accepted Jan 26 because it was enshrined if not in our constitution at least in our psyche. If we are to forge our own identity all things colonial need to be removed. First to go has to be the post of Governor General. Even if we still fall short on a Republic and our own President at least change that post to something more fitting to modern Australia. Ok I have had my soap box spray for the day too. There are others to come. Perhaps we should start our own Soap Box thread where everyone can let off some steam.. get things off their chest..speak their minds.. so to speak.

The US is blamed for colonizing the continent, and we're supposed to forever be in debt to the American Indians for what we took from them, ignoring the fact that it was Britain, Spain, France, and Russia who colonized North America, and the US wasn't formed until several centuries later. The other thing we're blamed for is slavery, again ignoring the fact that slavery was brought to this continent by Britain, Spain, the Dutch, and others long before the US became a nation, and that the US got rid of slavery through a bloody war less than a century after the nation was formed. My family came here from Sweden after all of that was over.

Good idea as long as it’s OK by Mr Ken :):D @Ken Anderson @Craig Swanson as ya know I like my soapbox but my poor box by the back door nails are a little rusty and it’s getting creaky like my bones :) so,it needs a bit of spit and polish to bring it up to standard if we are to have a soapbox thread
I think the box would be almost as old as me ..OMG Taubmans paint has been around since the old calcimine paint days
