Throw my brain in a hurricane And the blind can have my eyes And the deaf can take both of my ears If they don't mind the size
Reading today of the future shut down of a coal-fueled power plant in Kentucky, they stated that the coal came from the Paradise #9 Mine. In 1971, John wrote a song titled "Paradise" about the Peabody company in Kentucky. Thought I'd share it; a timely piece of work. " Then the coal company came with the world's largest shovel And they tortured the timber and stripped all the land Well, they dug for their coal till the land was forsaken Then they wrote it all down as the progress of man." " When I die let my ashes float down the green river Let my soul roll on up to the rochester dam I'll be halfway to heaven with paradise waitin' Just five miles away from wherever I am."
Bruised Orange - John Prine 1980 (stereo) John Prine tells the story behind the song, followed by a live performance of Bruised Orange (Chain of Sorrow.)
John Prine - Miller & Company (ca. 1992) John talks with Dan Miller about "The Missing Years" and "Falling From Grace" and performs "That's The Way That The World Goes 'Round."
I got three (Count em') John Prine CDs for my birthday! WOW! .....that's the way the world goes round, I guess! (Fair & Square, The Missing years & The Tree of Forgiveness.)
