https://www.ancient-origins.net/anc...rxheim-was-entire-village-cannibalized-006760 This article is so strange I can't think of a single personal comment. I'd like to hear anyone's reaction to it and opinion about what it means.
Apparently they invited the neighbors over for dinner. Unfortunately, the neighbors didn't realize they *were* dinner..... Interesting article, Dwight, especially the part about the bodies being from other parts of the continent.
Yes, and the suggestion that the 'dinner guests' volunteered is odd. It sounds like the town was a center of a religion of some sort. Do you agree?
Maybe they believed that allowing themselves to be consumed was pleasing to the Great God Zagat or his faithful guides, Michelin and Yelp.
What a fascinating article! Perplexing, but fascinating. I can't think of any kind of logical explanation, so I won't even try. But it does make me wonder if our current civilization, unearthed thousands of years from now, will give rise to similar questions about our practices, artifacts, lifestyles.
It certainly is an interesting and strange article. There are so many weird cults that exist even to this day, one wonders how anyone could come under the spell of any of them.
