That is why they can't find a cure. They can't kill and industry like that. Too many jobs would be lost.

The pit at the present time would be that I still can’t see squat even after being home for 3 hours after my visit to the ophthalmologist.
Added to that, now I have a headache.

I guess the “bittersweet” coming from the visit is that I didn’t have to submit to more time and scrutiny from the person selling glasses because there will not be another scrip forthcoming.. Apparently the glasses I already have is as good as it is going to get.

There is some solace to be taken however in that I have an appointment early this December to go over whatever procedure will be necessary to bring my eyesight back to 20/20.
We didn’t go into any detail but the good doctor simply said that after the operations I “should be pleased”.

Dunno. One of my mainstays of self confidence is that I can presently take my glasses off before I look into the mirror which allows my brain to fill in the out of focus portions with whatever the imagination so wishes.
No need for wrinkle cream if ya can’t see the wrinkles.

What kind of surgery will you be having, Bobby? I've been waiting on my cataracts to get big enough to qualify for removal.

The doctor didn’t really go over my options. He just said that I needed to consult with the surgeon in December. I guess whatever the insurance company will cover is what I’m getting.
To be sure, I’m not too excited about conventional cataract removal but again, if that’s what the insurance company covers then so be it.

To be doubly sure, having the insides of my eyes sucked out through a hole in the cornea sounds something right out of the script of some horror movie.

@Bobby Cole , sorry for you Pit day, but glad to hear from you.
Pit- finally got Walmart site to work well enough to order a few things. Naturally they were out of three things, I declined the substitutions, and went to store myself, yeeep as usual , they are out.
Hubby was suppose to go get fitted for a 24 hour heart monitor for a test. But it is now done from an outside source that is not on our insurance, And because I could not get a solid answer on how much we would owe, we are declining the test for now. Money is getting tight.
All of this is very trivial stuff, but sometimes you just gotta complain out loud:D

@Cody Fousnaugh , aren't you glad you are not still in Florida? Hurricane Ian is coming and it looks like a bad one. Or so the weather guessers say.

Yup! You are right. Before cataract surgery my hubby was just fine how things were. Afterward, he could see all the dust and the dishes piling up....
Just goes to show, eye surgery can ruin a marriage

I'm waiting too, Beth. I would like to have mine done now! I'm not sure if it is Medicare or the surgeon that decides.

It’s weird because even though the doctor was able to prescribe glasses up until this last visit, every eye doctor I have seen for the last 10-15 years has hinted at doing the surgery.
They’ve always said “it’s not necessary right now” which always ended with a “But”. They’ve indicated that it would be more or less an elective thing but the option was still open due to the fact that cataracts don’t just go away on their own.
Now I really don’t have a choice in the matter.

One of the good parts of it is that if necessary, I’ll be able to drive at night again and not be bothered with all the reflection from lights.

Peak: Hooked up our boat and launched it next to dock at local lake yesterday. BUT................see Pit.

Pit: Got it started by the dock, but it wouldn't stay running when throttle put into Neutral/Idle. Can't put the throttle in forward or reverse with throttle (transmission) being in Neutral/Idol. Tried adjusting carburetor idle screw, but that didn't work. After a number of tries, trying to keep it running in Neutral/Idle, put back on trailer and took back to storage.

Last time we had the boat on the water, it started instantly (like it had EFI: Electric Fuel Injection) of which it doesn't and ran perfectly on the water/cruising the lake. That was the second week of July.

Will get it ready for "winterization" and have the carb checked out then. In order to "winterize" it, the engine has to be running and throttle in Neutral/Idle.

Truly a disappointment for both of us that we couldn't get to run in Idle and then put into Forward and get past the dock. It was a very nice day to take it out.

Dumb question here for those that "Liked" this post.............why "Like" it?? There was a whole lot more "Pit" than "Peak" for that day.

I think that it is wonderful that you still have your boat, and that you were able to take it out, even though the day did not turn out like you wanted it to, especially since it ran so well last time, and this is probably the last chance for this year.
You have said for the last several years that you were going to sell the boat, but you seem to enjoy it, even when you do not get to use it much.

Well, we really didn't get to take it out, unless tying it up at the dock and not going anywhere with it, is fun, which it wasn't.

We have gone back and forth about selling it, but how good it started and ran last time, my wife told me "no way". Due to choosing to go on two short trips this summer, instead of putting our boat on the lake, doesn't use up the old gas in the tank. With my wife working Monday thru Friday, and the weekends being so full of boaters on local lakes, her job has interfered greatly with using our boat. We only took it out once the entire summer and that was the last time in July when it started/ran so good. Having a boat and only using it once during the entire summer, doesn't really cut it. Unfortunately, there were times we were going to take it out on a Saturday or Sunday AM, but it was just too windy as well as the lake being crowded. Great weather for sailing, but not so for us, at our age.

Like the cost of upkeep of a motorhome or other recreational vehicle, you don't even want to know how much we've spent on this boat. Bought it in 2009 and have done some major things to it. When it starts and runs good-to-great, like last time, it's well worth keeping it. Will see what a marine mechanic tells us the problem was.

Pit: I've been having random muscle spasms/cramps for the past week or so. I can't even yawn without getting a cramp under my chin. SO annoying. I've been chugging water and doing stretches and eating bananas but the cramping persists.

Peak: We're getting the brakes done on the RV so we can take a trip in the next few weeks. We'll go see my sister and other relatives in GA and see where else we might want to go. We've decided to sell the motorhome so this will probably be our last trip.

    Just a suggestion:
A whole battery of electrolytes could be responsible for the cramping. A supplemental combination of Cal, Mag, Zinc and Potassium with D3 would probably get the job done.
Note: The D3 is to help the minerals metabolize otherwise they might get stored.

Note 2: After heavy workout days I often have to sup up to prevent my muscles from cramping whilst I’m sleeping. Nothing worse than both calves and ankles seizing and no way to relieve it except to utter a few colorful words.
