So when the dealer called the other day and told me that the Body Control Module (BCM) fixed it, I asked the mechanic to drive it until it really warmed up and then let it idle for about 15 minutes, just to make sure. So he did. And the BCM did not fix it. The problem is in the instrument cluster. When the security system kicked in and cut off the gas, he tapped on a component that's part of the cluster and the problem went away.

The cost just doubled, and with the strike, the part is at least a week away. I asked it this was really a likely fix or just another step to the next broken thing. The mechanic is as certain as he can be without making guarantees. If this does not fix it (and it likely will), the only other thing it could be is in the wiring. If I didn't need a truck, this would be on Craigslist as salvage for the drive train.

    *sigh*

I left my number a few times yesterday never got a Return call.
We've been using this practice for 8 or nine years, Their quality of work and service has declined.
Today I feel worse I have a fever l have one of those digital under the tongue thermometers It's been reading a steady 99.8 since 6:15am, even after taking 3 Ibuprofen.
I also have one of those infrared guns that I tried on the farhead it's 99.4, The gun alarm went off when I tried it behind my ears, it was 102.8, not sure if that's a proper place to check for fever.
I've been keeping a record Of temperature and time, And when I've taken the ibuprofen..
There's something going around here. My wife was sick yesterday with a head cold. Maybe that's what I got I don't know.

I just saw this post; it may be time for a doctors appt. I haven't been feeling good this week either, maybe it's the change of season? just all the bad news we hear. I try not to get into ploitics or religion, but fail often by watching the news.
    Hope your feeling better Tony.

A fever is actually a beneficial thing that our body does to kill invading bacteria or viruses, @Tony Page , and unless it gets over 103, it is good to let it do its job and not take any kind of aspirin or NSAID to get rid of the fever.
I seldom get sick, but if I do, my favorite remedy is something alcoholic to put me to sleep, and some tortilla chips and hot, hot salsa to kill the bugs and smooth my throat with the salt from the chips.
Then, I go and crawl in bed and sleep it off, letting the fever and the salsa (cayenne pepper) do its job of killing the invaders and by the next morning, I am usually much better.

However, I am agreeing with everyone else…… since you do not know what is wrong, it is definitely time to see a doctor or emergency clinic. Take care, and prayers for your fast recovery from this !

Yvonne what type of alcohol do you drink? I am going back to wine since last couple beers I drank made me feel bad. Plus red wine is also very good for my diabetes.

I actually seldom drink any kind of alcoholic drink, @Marie Mallery ; but I learned years and years ago that it helped when I was sick. I don’t think that it matters what kind it is, just that the alcohol content is enough to heat up your body and put you to sleep. My choice would be a hot rum and lemon with honey, but most anything with alcohol will kill a sore throat.

I have no idea if beer would do that or not, and since it is lower alcohol than something like rum or whiskey, you would have to sit and drink a whole bunch of it not just a small glass full.
If I am sick with a fever, I just want it to work fast and put me to sleep, so I can wake up and feel better.
The chips and salsa really help a lot, too ! The salt in the chips soothes a sore throat, and the salsa makes most invading bacteria want to move out as fast as possible.
When I was growing up, my mom would put a pan of boiling water with some cayenne powder in the water on the table and I had to put a towel over my head and breathe in the steam from the cayenne. It did a wonderful job, but I hated it. Having chips and salsa is much nicer, if not quite as effective for killing off the bad bug invaders.

Contact thermometers are more accurate than non-contact thermometers. My under-the-tongue digital thermometer has an accuracy of ±0.2 degrees. The highest quality consumer infra-red non-contact thermometers that I have seen have an accuracy of ±0.5 degrees. Many infra-red thermometers have an even broader range. So I'd stick with the contact one.

I don't know if having a temp means your issue is strictly a virus. I agree with others...get thee to an urgent care clinic or the ER. I'd demand an EKG. That's upsetting that your doctor has not returned your call.

John, we have both. A thermometer that goes under the tongue (has a cover that slips over the tip before putting under tongue) and a non-contact thermometer that a person points at the forehead. The non-contact is accurate, but just a shy off of the tongue one.

Believe it or not, no real "pit", but most definitely a "peak" last night: Went down the freeway a couple of miles to a large Truck Stop that has a casino/restaurant and a Holiday Inn Express across a driveway from the casino/restaurant. We had at at the restaurant before and it was good. Not great, but good. A couple, young enough to be our daughter/son, and their daughter were sitting at a table next to ours. I struck up a conversation with them. They were on vacation from San Diego and were headed to the Grand Canyon. Had been to Hoover Dam yesterday.

I happened to mention that I had been stationed in San Diego (32nd Street) in the Navy. They said "thanks for Serving". We hadn't got our food yet, but they were done eating and headed to the cash register and then left. When the waiter brought our food to us, he said "When you get done eating, just leave. The couple that were sitting next to you paid for your dinner and told me to tell you "thanks for Serving" again. We were stunned and very grateful.

This is the 3rd time this has happened to us in 23 years. It happened to us at a Waffle House in Jacksonville, Florida once. We had been having a nice/friendly conversation with a young man sitting at a table next to us (by himself) and when he left, he paid for our breakfast. Unfortunately, he left before we could say "thank you" to him.

Just out of curiosity, how do you know the non-contact one is accurate? I'm sure many of them are at certain temps and under certain conditions, but I just looked up a $50 one on Amazon and the stated spec is ±0.4°F. So 98.6° would read in the range of 98.2° and 99.0°. Now that we chat about it, I'm not sure I could discern 0.4° on a liquid thermometer if I wanted to test the non-contact against it.

So what type of under-the-tongue one do you have...electronic or old-style liquid? I have one of these:

ps: damn the government for taking away our accurate mercury.

It's been a wild ride, Saturday I progressively got worse where I felt like I was hit with a rock slide every bone and muscle in my body hurt. Fever spiked so I took Tylenol I kept a record it takes Tylenol an hour and a half to bring the fever down to an acceptable range.
I never Made it to the doctor, my driving reflex is not good on a good day so I didn't want to chance it with the way I was feeling, so I decided to stay home curl up in bed and fight it the best I could with Tylenol.
I don't know if this is covid but sure feels like some kind of a flu. I'm embarrassed to say Saturday night I had 2 bladder accidents, I've never experienced that before in my life. Seems to be okay now.
Strange things are happening please don't think I'm nuts but Saturday night I'm sitting on the couch talking to my wife I had my cane leaning against the couch maybe a foot and a half away, through the corner of my eye on the handle of the cane I see the most beautiful Bethlehem type star it was bright and brilliant, but I turned my head to get a better look it vanish. My wife says she didn't see it so either I was having a hallucination, Saturday night was the worst of the fever, what I said to my wife was did you see that angel I just saw an angel it look like the Star of Bethlehem. If it wasn't an hallucination I believe it was somebody's calling card???
I just looked up the Star of Bethlehem if it appears.

"What does it mean when the Star of Bethlehem appears?

The Star of Bethlehem, mentioned in St. Matthew's Gospel, is one of the main symbols associated with Jesus' birth, embodying the light of hope of salvation in the midst of darkness."

I still got fever and fog in the head The muscle and bone aches have really reduced.
All I can think about is sleeping, tired.
I will try to go through some of my flag items then it's back to bed.
