Just to let you know, we aren’t saving to buy a home. Can only rent an apartment. Holly, we will be gone an entire week and a descent motel will cost for a weeks stay, plus the airline flight isn’t cheap either. Car rental for a week costs to. At 6’1”, I can’t fit into an economy car, hS to be full-size. We have to do this in order to check some things out. Obviously we aren’t rich, but not poor either. Health is important, but in our situation, so is moving.
Yes. We never fly Red Eye (midnight flight), which is cheaper than others. And, of course, flying during the summer months is like flying at Thanksgiving and Christmas..........expensive. Our flight isn't just a little hop from one state to another, like when we flew from Charlotte, NC to Orlando, FL for our Bahama Cruise in 2008. This flight to Denver is some 4 hours long, due to two hour time change.
We almost always fly the Red Eye, both because of the cost and because it gets us where we are going in the lower 48 in the morning. Nothing to see flying over water anyhow, so we sleep on the way down and arrive refreshed and ready to start the day. On the way back, however, we use afternoon flights so we can get picked up by someone at a convenient time. We are miles from the nearest commercial airport, so we arrange to have one of our children or in-laws pick us up or drop off a car at the airport. Cabs, Uber, and Lyft aren't practical and there are no shuttles out here.
Hi to all, have been very busy so have not been on here much at all. This morning, I went to open the patio door-which is hard to do...my left index finger made a popping noise. It now hurts. I can only bend it down so far, but do not think it broke. Actually it is the joint under the index finger. It is beginning to show signs of bruising. Oh well. Wednesday, will take hubby to work at 4:30 am, to keep car, so I can go for my Deep Cleaning of teeth and gums. @Cody Fousnaugh , one visit ! However there are dentist who break it down...five is a little much. Anyway, laughing gas, instead of being totally knocked out. I have had this done before, but dread it big time. This perio dentist is a new one, for me, like him- but intend on telling him do a good job- cause i am not doing this again. Out of $1776 ( this includes after visits and etc) insurance will only pay maybe $750... so I have to charge $1053 to my my already full charge card. Ain't that special. I had another oral surgery last year still paying on that one also. It is not a sob story just fact. In the meantime, they cut hubbys hours again-joy joy. BUT... we will soon have means to help our financial situation out some. In the meantime, we are going to have ac repaired in car, as the prices for a good used one is even a tad high. Then hubby informs me his hands are locking up again...geez, there is no rest for the wicked. Still paying on his last hand surgery from two years ago. Bottom line- ..always something and always will be. So these are my pits..... my peak... still alive and kicking and intend to enjoy what I can - when I can . @Cody Fousnaugh - have you checked out some services that cater to seniors with financial burdens. Like dental schools vs. going to perio dentist?
I feel for you both (Cody's wife and Gloria). Are they doing a procedure called "trenching" on your teeth? That seems like the only reason they would divide it into sections. I was once scheduled for that procedure accidentally. The dentist wrote "clenching" on my chart, and the receptionist read it as "trenching". When I got to the hygienist, she started giving me all these disclaimers about the procedure, then looked at my teeth and said I didn't qualify. She then talked to the receptionist and discovered the error. Apparently, "clenching" is doing fillings at the gum line, and "trenching" is a deep cleaning below the gum line. At least that is what they told me.
Pit: Went to a Western Clothing Store yesterday to do some shopping. Had to laugh, when we left, that none of clerks knew nothing about the sport of rodeo. They had some buckles and pictures in the store of rodeo, but as far as their knowledge goes, pretty much NONE. Heck, they didn't even know where Cheyenne, Wyoming was. Wife and I believe this is the first western clothing store we've ever gone to that nobody knew much-to-anything about rodeo. And, some of the boots and clothes they were selling, really looked like a "Rhinestone Cowboy/Cowgirl" style. Yep, the old "big city" nightclub look. Of course, this stores location sure isn't in an area that would be known as "Country/Western" at all. Peak: We bought me a new pair of Wrangler jeans, new straw cowboy hat and a hat stretcher. Can hardly wait to get around a lot of TRUE "Western" type people this summer in Cheyenne and end up moving away from Florida and to an area that is much more to our liking.
My day has gone fine...byt I was listening to the news and there was a report on the latest shooting. A man whose wife was a teacher had left him a note thst morning as to how much she loved him and hoped he would feel better that day. The man had just been diagnosed with a lung disease. He was talking about how she was always there for him. Reporter asked how long they had been married...45 years !I just lost it . Whew anyway ...so sick of all the killings. This was my pit for the day.
Well, unfortunately, killings is a part of everyday life throughout the world. It was also reported that there is a possibility that some of those students that were killed, were caught in the crossfire of law enforcement and the shooter.
Have been so busy lately, it is hard to catch up on here. Yesterday we, bought us a very nice truck, and much needed. Was a long day but a happy one. Then this week my daughter is moving away form me..about 5 hours away, so will be hectic Saturday for sure helping her.. I will be getting her washing machine- yea! I will have her daughter for two weeks, until school is out- joy oh joy. Anyway, hope all is well, and will check back on off and on, see how all your doing.
This definitely was the pit of the day. Had to take Sari to the vet for teeth cleaning and then learned that 10 teeth had to get extracted. New vet blames the previous one (I'd consulted before my relocation) for not knowing the first thing about dachshunds. Sari is in need of gentle care now and that's what she's getting from me. Still waiting for the peak....
