Jeeze... these kids!! (Even the grownup ones.) That reminds me of when I was a young mother, visiting my parents. I asked my dad, "when do parents get to stop worrying about their kids?" and he just looked at me and smiled.
Sunday was going good, until my daughter called..she lived five hours away...boyfriend beat her up.In fact hubby and I were out of town at my brothers. Long story..short version she arrived at our place today with her teen daughter and the dog. Moved in with us in two bedroom apt.She has several jobs lined up already ans is trying to get things together mentally over all this. Soooo I may be to busy to post much for a bit. Otherwise ...lolo ..I continue on
Oh how terrible, Gloria. I'm glad your daughter had a place to go after being mistreated. My best wishes to all of you.
@Gloria Mitchell - She's done the right thing - to get out ! If she finds a job quickly that will be great, then a place of her own This could be the start of something good - best wishes to you all
Oh I'm so sorry Gloria, your poor daughter. Did the POS do any serious damage to her?...was this the first time? Has she pressed charges? Thank God she had you to come to, I know it must be a real squeeze to have her in your little apartment, but I know as a mother you'd sleep in the garden if it meant giving a safe home to your Adult child, and grandchild. I hope she's ok, and not suffering the shock of it too much... nor you, ... and can be left alone to let her repair her life. ((((hugs)))) to you all...
Checking in to thank you all. Holy she is ok physically other than a califlour ear and few bruises. Her ego and emotional state is if course fragile. But she is strong wiiled and has many people helping her. Once she starts work things will fall into place. I will be busy for a while but will check in off an on.
I'm pleased to hear she's not too badly hurt, good thing she's strong willed, but of course she's going to be shaken emotionally for a while, poor girl... Take care of yourself too Gloria.. it's got to be emotionally draining for you too..and physically demanding on you as a family..
Peak: Yesterday morning, as already posted on my other thread, got the paperwork (Surrender) done on our sold truck and re-registered our Durango. Nice to get that done. Pit: Went to bed last night at 10:30 and could hear someone talking outside. Checked it out and it was the downstairs neighbor, in the building next to ours, talking to someone on his back patio. He's young and in the Navy. He was talking like it was 2:30PM. It is so quiet in the area our apartment is in, his voice carried. Wife wanted to go to sleep, but couldn't because of this talking. I grabbed my flashlight, went outside, pointed it at his patio and asked him (politely) "Please hold down the noise, my wife has to work in the morning." He said "ok". Think we finally got to sleep at midnight. This is the second time this "talking" problem has happened with him. There is a complex policy about noise after 10PM. I asked my wife, "why can't people respect those that are sleeping and not talk outside like it is in the afternoon?"
@Cody Fousnaugh ...some people don't realize how the voice carries at times. We use to have a guy lived opposite from us on third floor. He would be on his phone yakking all hours day or night. That was annoying. But I remind my self better than screaming an hollering
Peak : Gorgeous sunny day, and my o/h had the day off, so he's been trying to find time to buy new shirts and new sunglasses, but he hates shopping, so today I managed to talk him into it.. and we went into London, and he got all the shirts he wanted, and a really cool (but expensive) pair of Ray-bans , and he did it without demanding to leave half way through which he always does when we're shopping because he just can't cope with it, he feels claustrophobic!! While he was browsing for shirts, I looked elsewhere and as I haven't bought any new clothing for a while, and I've got my Spanish trip coming up.. I got myself 2 pretty blouses, and a pale blue-ish, Tea dress... I only ever wear dresses on holiday.... I also bought a gold and diamanté bracelet... nothing expensive but it looks pretty Then we did the whole weeks' grocery shopping.. and with that packed in the car in insulating bags, we went for lunch at the pub restaurant.. around 3ish... It was really quiet and peaceful. in the middle of a weekday.. Our lunch.... Mediterranean salad of tomato, red onion, cucumber, pickled red cabbage, grated carrot, fresh spinach, quinoa, chia & pomegranate seeds, with a pineapple, lemongrass & ginger dressing Oh ..and the enamel door number plate we had hand made in Poland for our front door, arrived this morning...super job.... very pleased with it
Honey child that is not even a salad here...much less a lunch. Where is the sammich...the tater chips..and ice tea?
LOL no iced tea..hubs had beer, and I had flavoured water... ... you get potato chips ( crisps) with some other types of salads or sandwiches sometimes , but not if it's a 'Health kick salad'' which is what that was.. ...and even hubs said he could have eaten another plate of it.. but we didn't, which is why I'm soooo lithe and skinny..(not)... and hubs isn't 15pounds overweight (not)...lol ..but seriously everyone I know who has visited the USA...are stunned at the huge portions of food they get served in restaurants there... I'd never be able to eat it...
Well it is true...serve way too much food and often a waste. However I was thinking more if substance than quanity. But seriously that tiny salad. you had is barley garnish on a sandwich here.
