Decided not to do hen butts today, only a couple of them have a few places, so later on the grooming thing.
Last couple hours I have been busy digging up logs i piled up about 5 years ago. In slow motion of course, but still have some pain. it is a good day to get some sun and work, vitamin D, it is good for me. I need to move them out of way of our blackberry bushes. Got a few briar cuts, they had grown on top of the pile. I was telling Jake about a real bad news story, and he covered his ears and said, Lalalalala.
Oh man; when planting the seeds, "you think", well some may not come up, then they do, and then while transplanting, you "think", may have done too many. Still have a lot to transplant. All these are still to go.
Gonna stop for today, done several more. The greenhouse was 95 degrees, while I was doing the transplanting today. Will have to use a fan tomorrow, it has 4 ft. doors on each end and still hits 95 with them open. Shouldn't let it get past 85 degrees or plants can wilt from the heat. Since I was keeping them wet with cool water it didn't hurt them. Thought I would be able to transplant all of them today, but was wrong. Got to rest now.
So far we have this many transplants done. Yesterday's temperature got to 95 degrees, but today we put a fan in and it's at 65 degrees now so far. While transplanting we were watering so didn't hurt anything.
Not turning this into a garden thread; just pointing out all the work you still have to do, after retiring. I bought the paint for the roof on the van and painted it a month ago, also bought paint for my truck and it's next. It never slows after you retire, because it's always something that gonna break or need repair, or preparing for a trip, etc. But I'm grateful to be able to do some of the things that need doing, and it feels good, looking at the finished projects, after the work is done. Hope everyone is having an awesome day, and getting the things done they want to.
The temperature was 55 degrees at 7 am, then 11:30 80 degrees, cut fan on now 78 degrees inside the greenhouse. Caught three more cardinals since this photo, and set them free.
I've had a couple 'not so good days' so poopy butt was put on hold. But today I'll try to take care of it. It may rain, and I get to put it off another day. It was a change in the weather that affected 2 of their stomachs. Jake keeps them wormed and I give them probiotics, aka 'Greek yogurt' now and then so first time ever had this in hens, a couple peeps but never hens.
This greenhouse did serve us well for 15 years, now it's redone and hope it last as long as last time. Girly, which we named this squirrel, was such a sweetheart. She would jump into my hands and then get into my shirt pocket.
She was fun, my tom cat brought her to me, he was always bringing me rabbits, squirrels and rats, many of them alive. Girly would go to the beach or outing with us and run around till she saw a person coming then she'd run back up our legs and get in Jakes pocket or on my shoulder. We brought her to the wildlife refuge , didn't want to leave her. I think we just hijacked another thread, so I'm going to get busy soon doing things like cleaning and cooking, then take a walk with the dogs on the trail..
Back being busy, transferred the rest of the plants to another container for now, until I come up with more pots around here. to these. and.
Thirty-six degrees here last night so had to put the garage heater back in the greenhouse last night. Set it for 60 degrees and it cuts off, then kicks back on at 50 degrees, with its thermal stat. These plants being so new I have to keep temp right or would lose all that time and work I've put into it. bell peppers are still small. They all made it fine so far.
