Well, here in Massey, we still don't have any cases of the virus.. We all take extra super care and so far, so good... Our village looks totally abandoned.. Nobody is out and about unless necessary... Most everything is closed... The only shops that are open are...……….. The grocery store that is overly cautious, the 2 convenient stores, the Shell gas station, the liquor store, the pharmacy, and the post office... We have 2 hardware stores that are open but not for public use.. Just for pick-up and for building supplies.. Our pet and grooming shop is only for pet food and no-one goes in the shop.. Our food grocery shop will take a phone order and deliver it to your house so you can stay home.. The same with prescription renewals.. No shop anywhere takes cash... Interact or credit card only...… The pharmacy has waived the $2.00 fee for prescriptions so they are free...
Went for groceries yesterday, more safety added..... 50 customers only, in store at a time..... besides distances taped at checkouts..... taped arrows on floor through isles to follow, helps prevent unnecessary passing, post office started shorter hours, as well as some other stores that are open at all.
Had to go to both Safeway and Walmart yesterday AM. Done the "in and out" fast. Walmart seems to be keeping a great stock of things now. What Safeway didn't have, Walmart did. Seen a few Seniors wearing virus masks at Safeway and basically nobody at Walmart. But, then again, we do live on the older end of this city. We have enough to last us a week or so, which is good, due to a snowstorm coming in tomorrow. Then, by this coming weekend, we will be 70 degrees, but that won't last long.
After the grocery trip yesterday, drove past our local greenhouse business, ghost place as well, i'm thinking that luxury may not happen this year at all..
Ok, SOF members, do you think America is doing enough to "try" and control this virus outbreak? There are those that don't want to do the Guidelines and there have even been those arrested for not. One was a Pastor in Florida. After being warned numerous times, the Sheriff ended up having him arrested. Do you think President Trump, and his experts, are doing enough or doing too much? Wife and I don't necessarily like this "Stay At Home" Order by our Governor, but will obey it. It's going to be hard for many for the next 30 days, but...…...
Other than deteriorating food service at my facility I think they are doing a good job with sanitation measures.
If the nurses and other health care workers don't have enough supplies to follow protocol for contagious diseases, and retired health care workers and 4th year med students are being called up to help out, something is wrong. Most of the governors are doing their best I think, except the guy in Florida.
My life is going on pretty much like always, although I wouldn't mind hearing about something other than the coronavirus on television or on the radio. We have a stay-at-home order but there are so many exceptions to it that it's just for show. We are allowed to leave the house for recreational purposes, walks, shopping, and so on. I can't imagine a situation where anyone would not be able to talk their way out of a confrontation. Plus, how would the police arrest anyone without violating the 6-foot rule? Despite occasional shortages in toilet paper and Lysol, the stores are well-stocked, and I buy most stuff on Amazon.com anyhow, and things are getting pretty much back to normal there now. I think they are using the virus as an excuse for the same slow shipping that I have noted for the past year. The only thing I miss is the restaurants. If I am going to take out and eat at home, I may as well cook it here. Restaurants have not been a big part of my life, but I did go out to eat two or three times a week, and enjoyed that.
The Governor of Florida just done a Stay At Home Order. A friend of ours, that lives there, absolutely didn't want that order to happen. He loves riding his bike to the beach. He has already stated that to us. He says, "until they put up Beach Closed signs, I will continue riding my bike there."
Believe me Ken, if law enforcement have to, they will cuff a person. They are wearing virus protection masks and latex gloves, at lease what we've seen. When we go to the grocery store, we don't see as many vehicles on the road that we did, but there are still numerous business that are still open, including Office Depot and Walmart. Heck, even the auto repair shop we took our Durango to for the computer change, is still open.
@Lois Winters Flowers for You, Lois.....Wish they were real.....Hoping they might cheer you up , even a little bit. Stay strong.
