@Shirley Martin, I do not think the virus itself is a conspiracy nor do I think it was created to form a conspiracy.
What I do believe is that some of the powers that be see an opportunity and are using it for their own agenda.
It’s especially easy to do since this is a brand spanking new malady even though the mortality rate is lower than any other major medical crisis we have had in the recent past of say, 50 years.

One death that could have been prevented is one death too many.

I do not own a gun and haven’t owned one in 30 or so years but it is my right to own one under the Constitution of the U.S. Take away that right and I will get a tad ticked even though I am not presently partaking of that right.
    Is that also hypocritical ?

This is exactly why I have said that it won't stop with COVID-19. If we accept that one death that could have been prevented is one death too many, then we'll be shutting our economy and our lives down every time an infectious disease comes along, and there are always infectious diseases around. What's the point of living if we can't afford to eat, can't buy toilet paper, and have to spend our lives hiding under our beds. No, we accept the much greater risk of being killed in a car accident every time we drive somewhere. We send children to school, knowing that there is a chance that they could catch a disease there or be killed in a school shooting. We have spent most of our lives going outdoors, exposing ourselves to people who might infect us with a disease or harm us in some other way. Setting the constant drone of the media hype aside, this is no different.

There is no point in our arguing about this. Human life on this Earth has always been precarious and fraught with danger. But, as I see it, there is no need to add to the danger if we can avoid it.

That's all I have to say.

I haven't been in contact with anyone other than my wife since all this began. I was prepared, and I have been in only two stores in the past few weeks. I am simply predicting that people are going to revolt against these imposed restrictions, and offering reasons why this is going to happen. As long as we believed that we were being told the truth and that all of this fuss was necessary, people were willing to go along with it, at least to a point. But we've reached that point, I think. We know now, that we have been lied to, so there no longer exists the level of good faith that would be necessary. When you add, to that, the fact that businesses cannot remain in business with their doors closed, and people cannot support themselves and their families without working, and that the government cannot - and should not - support the entire population of the country indefinitely, this cannot continue much longer. Right now, most people are still going along with it because the media has reported on nothing else for the past few weeks, and the constant drone persuades people that there must be something to it. It also pressures elected officials to go along with it because, otherwise, if even one person catches the virus, they will be blamed. But people catch viruses all the time, and many of them die from it. Even if you believe everything you're told, there have been worse plagues than this.

Another thing that concerns me. Not long ago, the medical community awoke to the fact that prolonged and consistent use of hand sanitizers kills, not only the bad stuff, but a lot of the good stuff as well. Plus it encourages some of the bad stuff to evolve into something even badder. Because of this, they changed their guidelines to discourage the constant use of hand sanitizers, anti-germicidal gels, and so on, just as they spoke against the too-frequent use of antibiotics. Finding that kids who grew up barefoot on a farm had better immune systems and were less susceptible to a whole host of diseases, they seemed to have become aware that a healthy immune system is better than avoidance. Now that everyone has made a run on hand sanitizers, and clinics, hospitals, stores, and other businesses that remain open have been wiping everything down and even requiring customers to use the hand sanitizers on the way in and again on the way out of the store, I wonder what negative effects this might have down the road.

The good news is that far fewer people are dying of pneumonia, and probably some other diseases.

It would be very interesting if Boris Johnston walks out of the hospital at Easter and claims hydroxychloroquine saved his life

Helps having a minuscule population. Like Australia, also with a low death rate, NZ too is an island nation.. so shutting your borders is more affective..

Okay, who is running the country! ??
Bill Gates, the esteemed father of Microsoft and multi billionaire wants us to hang loose for another 10 weeks.
On the other hand, Zeke Emmanuel, democrat father of ObamaCare and brother of Rom Emmanuel of “never let a crisis go to waste” fame wants us to buckle down for another 18 weeks.

I do not know who is right and who is wrong but I sure as heck hope Gates and Zeke aren’t at the top of the list of being right!!

I wish they would select an adequate size random sample of people across the country and thoroughly test everyone in the sample (both for presence and for antibodies) and follow them up over time.

That would allow us to get better estimates of how many people are actually infected (at that point in time), the fatality rates, hospitalization rates, recovery rates, number asymptomatic, immunity after being infected, etc.

I wish they had started this as soon as they realized our testing system was totally inadequate, back in February. By now we might have had some very useful information.

A news report from a few moments ago: "The number of people with coronavirus keeps rising!"

Well, until you start subtracting those who have recovered or who never were sick to begin with, it's not going to get lower.
