For some reason, there are those who always announce their departure... like this is an airport or something. :D

    I gotta own up.

To be honest……I didn’t make any popcorn with extra butter.

Maybe they are giving us a second chance to ask them to stay? I don't know I feel bad when They leave like that. Especially if I've offended them.. which thank goodness I haven't unless they didn't tell me..

At the very least, I have to give @Tom Dinning credit for the way he announced his departure.

Most of those sort of posts are the last testaments of how the forum and those in the forum have either persecuted or failed them.
They generally go on and on about this person or that person whilst at the same time unable to admit that at some point it was their own actions that caused the problems. On the contrary, they often depict themselves as something akin to the Virgin Mary and expect everyone to bow down and ask for forgiveness.

Tom simply wrote that he apparently doesn’t do well with forum conversation which to me, was honest. He realized his own shortcomings and didn’t attempt to lay any blame on anyone else for his leaving.

I hope he changes his mind and comes back. He got off to a bad start, is all. That's easily forgiven.

Without the physics and In context, it simply means that ya don’t know what you have until one looks or rather, there’s proof.

Tom stated (in short) that sometimes he was honest and sometimes he wasn’t and no one would know which one he was unless they asked and even then, things could be open for doubt.
Hence, the paradox of Schrodinger’s cat.

It looked to me like Tom was someone who either needed or wanted to create a lot of attention quickly and set himself up as some sort of "superior intellect" for some reason. When it didn't work out the way he hoped or planned, he left. Whether by design or happenstance, the idea of his "not fitting in" became the excuse to move on. Tom could have been a troll, a person looking for an audience and/or just someone with a big, insecure, online ego. Of course, I could be all wrong on this, given the number of possibilities (e.g., a political operative who didn't like any conservative elements on this site).

Agreed. I quit reading his posts pretty quickly because it just seemed to me he was more interested in being glibly verbose than actually saying anything…attention seeking.

I think this thread is a good example of artificial intelligence.

I have read this entire thread, and still left a bit confused. Tom started off playing a mind game, with the forum and got what he wanted- participation in his game. That is my take on this thread, but I could be wrong. As for his leaving, um not sure I knew he was here, so Bye to him. I had to just stop myself, I was beginning to write a book on this thread, but stopped myself.;)
Bottom line, personally I am more interested in keeping the folks we have than worrying about the few who pop in and then out for whatever reason. :).Speaking of that I am seeing several people o n forum lately that have been here a long time, but have never actually seen them post. So, hoping maybe they will post more. :D
