This is Harry the tree frog. He was on the side of the mobile home Friday night.

See the pads on his feet. They are sticky. I found out they get inside the house by climbing onto the roof and dropping down through the toilet vents.

Cute little guy. Many years ago My son-in-law put a pond in my backyard he did a great job it was beautiful. One of the first things I purchased to stock it was tadpoles. Some turned into bullfrogs. It was one of my favorite things, to sit there and watch the activity.

    Cool!

It would be fun to raise a few bullfrogs and turn them loose in our pond. The neighbors used to sneak in and clean them out for eating. It took several years for them to come back one time. Not sure if there are currently any. A lot of pond grass has grown up around the edges, so it's probably a better environment for frogs now.

Between the two neighbors on the east side there are about 10 vehicles parked. About 9:00 this morning, a car alarm honking starts. It went on for some time. Theoretically it could go on all day because the owners could all be in class.

I finally look out the window and the Ranger's lights are flashing. It wants something. Like a spoiled child. Run down the stairs. Door will open but honking won't stop. No clue on the dashboard what was wrong. Probably I didn't know where to look. Jump in and start it up. That worked.

What the heck was that all about? What if it happened while I was asleep. It might have gone on all night. The police may have come knocking at the door in the middle of the night.

I am really beginning to hate this truck. But the new ones all have that don't they? Is there a way to stop this from happening again?

I don't know know you can disable the security system without leaving the thing unlocked, but you should be able to cycle the Door Unlock/Lock button on the remote to silence the alarm. That being said, if you went in the truck to start it, the alarm should have been silenced when you unlocked the door. Did you start it remotely?

Not remotely. With finger on the start button. I need to at least learn how to silence it remotely. But I can't memorize all these things. No. I don't WANT to memorize all these things. My guess is a short circuit. The dew this morning is as heavy as I've ever seen it---almost dripping off the deck.

Are you saying you opened the door and got in while the thing continued to honk, and only starting the stuck stopped the honking??? I'm kinda laughing and kinda shaking my head here. This stuff is insane. I guess the answer is somewhere in The Owner's Tome.

I hate my car, too. I did something similar with the alarm, though I had simply opened the car door and it started honking. There is some convoluted sequence with locking/setting the alarm and I guess I set it off... though I never even lock the car when it's parked in the garage.

If your truck is sitting outside, it's possible that someone opened the door (or tried to open it.) Does it have the little red blinking light in the middle of the dash that indicates that the alarm is set?

Yes. I don't find the Owner's manual all that helpful.

The interior lights automatically come on when you turn push off the ignition, even if you don't open the door. One day they stopped coming on, even after you do open the door. I swear I didn't do anything. I couldn't even turn on the map lights manually. The owner's manual didn't help.

Assumed a fuse or something went bad. So, for about a month it was difficult unloading groceries after dark. Then one day they magically started working again.

Do you belong to a Ranger (or Ford) forum? I find that other owners are the best source for helpful information. Manuals are so generic that they are basically useless for most things.

My car gets updates to the system via wifi, kind of like "auto updates" on a laptop or phone. So sometimes after an update, the user configuration (preferences) is wiped out and put back to system defaults.

Yes, it's outside. I can't remember any red blinking lights inside, or a place for them, except the hazard lights. I'll look. I can't imagine anyone around at 9am. If I try to open the door without the fob, the horn doesn't honk. Please don't tell me it's supposed to honk then also.

By the way, I remember you said there was a noise in your new car you finally found. Mine has a sound like a marble loose in a wooden box, and it hits the side of the box every time I turn left. It's been going on for 3 years. I've learned to peacefully coexist. Need someone else in the truck to isolate it.

When my alarm is set, there is a small blinking red light that can be seen from outside the vehicle; it's in the middle of the top of the dashboard. That may be a GM thing, though.

Ugh, I absolutely hate noises. One I had was just my sunglasses rattling in the overhead bin. There is also a noise in the air conditioner actuators that I'm waiting on parts to repair. I have heard that some assembly line workers will put some random item in a body panel (empty coke can, marble, etc.) just to be a jackass.

Yes, that happens. My cousin's boss many years ago had rattle in the rear of the car, they found a beer can in the rear section. I think it's called rear quarter.
I don't understand a prank if you can't see the results. You're right they are jackasses.
