    Gimbal

Never heard of it before. It's a device you mount your camera on that smooths out abrupt moves when you shoot videos. They make them for smartphone cameras also, but all are hand held. A decent one can be found for about $100. I may get one of these, just to use while walking.

I searched for several hours trying to find a gimbal that could be attached to the front bumper of the cart. One guy mounted one on a motorcycle handle bar. His conclusion was it doesn't smooth out really short quick jerks and several people said too much vibration can damage the stabilizer mechanism in your camera.

So, maybe a hat mount? How could you tell if you are pointing it in the right direction? One that clips on the bill is too front heavy. One with an extension bar out front shakes even more. And a chest mount would be too low.

(Does anyone else think this man looks like Neil Young?)

My son, who lives in north Idaho, goes out into the mountains on his motorcycle, and he uses a helmet-attached camera. There is not any way that you are going to be able to stop the bouncing when you go over those bumps in the trail, but at least you do not have to try and drive and hold the camera at the same time.
A camera mount for the 4-wheeler might work, and they are pretty cheap on Amazon.

Since this is a daily journal, and I did waste a whole day on this, I'm including some of the things I found.

    DIY camera mounts

Not sure how this one works, but the box idea looks promising. (student project for a Design Class at Georgia Tech) "Trust me, I'm an engineer?"

This one looks too front heavy, and how could you watch the road to drive?

Mouth held, with a piece of paper. Wouldn't you eventually start drooling?

Leaning toward this one. I already have all the parts.

I wonder if you could loosen up your neck enough to smooth out the bouncing anyway.

Gimbal chicken. How does she do that?

(And yes, there are videos with tiny cameras strapped to the heads of a chickens to test it out.)

Another mystery solved...or...What a cheap scanner can do.

Original photo, actual size ( 2" x 3" ). I always kind of assumed this was my father, but no one told me so. It was just a guess.

The scanner will enlarge this by a factor of 10 . This is ~ X3.

Cropped close up compared to known picture. :D:cool:

By the way, what is that growing in the field? ..Sorry looking corn?

It almost looks like tobacco, but I don't think tobacco grows in that part of West Virginia.

If you draw a well-defined straight line on the sidewalk and bring a chicken down and place its beak on the line, it will never leave the line until picked up, for the same reason it keeps its head gyro-stabilized when its body is waved around.

Thank you, Hal. I learned something. I had to see this. The second one looks like one of those Bengali chickens.

Watched the football game last night. Other than the final score (Alabama 41, Georgia 24 ) it was just as enjoyable to watch as always. The first half Georgia played well. New quarterback. They said only about 1/4 the fans were present. They didn't show them as much, which is fine with me. I didn't notice it being any less noisy on TV either.

Thanks for the video, Von. It is hard to believe if you don't see it.

The airbag warning light went out on the truck. Not sure when it happened. That was easy to fix. :D:p
