Sadly, most liberals think the exact same thing about conservatives. Then there are the race baiters and the "generation hate" that is relatively new... Millenials and the "OK Boomer" thing. So many ways to divide us.

I viewed an interesting presentation about the harm that "stupid people" do to the world. The presentation divided people into a few different categories, including those who support efforts that contribue to themselves and to others, such as society as a whole; those who are interested only in contributing to themselves, but who do not wish to harm others; those who are interested only in themselves, even at the expense of others; and "stupid people," who are defined as those who will support agendas that harm both themselves and others; and although stupid people represent a minority, they are responsible for most of the harm that is done to society. Something like that, anyhow.

While viewing it, I was thinking that yes, this defines the problems pretty well. Looking further, I found that this theory was proposed by a professor at the University of California at Berkley, and I realized that most of those viewing the presentation would probably agree with it, and see it as illustrating the rightfulness of their own positions, whatever they might be. Very few people view themselves as stupid people, so they would place themselves in one of the other categories. While someone on the right might consider those who blindly go along with whatever the Democrat policy or candidate of the day might be as stupid people, those on the right will consider MAGA Republicans to be stupid people.

In reality, there are stupid people on both sides, and I would consider them to be those who strongly support a position that they cannot themselves define without referring to someone else's words. Stupid people are those who vote Republican or Democrat because that's the team they decided to follow without bothering to learn anything about why one might be better than the others, or to consider that neither should be blindly trusted.

Stupid people do harm because their vote counts the same as those who actually do the homework, and because they sometimes go further than that and take part in destructive actions on the part of whatever team they decided to support.

If you are a Green Bay Packers fan, what makes them better than the Chicago Bears?

Trump appears to have done it again with endorsements.
While the Alaska Republicans have endorsed a guy who has been working hard for Alaska for decades trying to maintain conservative ideas and who has been running for Congress for two elections, Trump has stepped in and endorsed a candidate who just entered the race. This will split the conservative vote and hand Alaska's only congressional seat to the Democrats once again. He did the same thing in 2022 when Sarah Palin jumped into the race at the last minute. Trump doesn't seem to look at the entire political picture when he makes his endorsements. He did the same thing when he endorsed Mehmet Oz for the Senate in Pennsylvania. He was endorsing a carpetbagger in that case. I had hoped that Trump had learned his lessons about making choices of people around him and in his cabinet (should he be elected), but it looks like perhaps he has learned nothing from his experience. I don't know enough about Vance to know if he is a good choice or not, but Don Jr. was pushing for him to be the choice and his father trusts his son, rightly or wrongly.

Did you listen to Bongino today? After a lot of very scary info about the Secret Service he gave his full opinion of Vance in the last hour of the show. It would be good for everyone to hear.

Edited to say that Trump endorsed the wrong guy in Colorado but the good guy trounced him.

It looks a lot like he endorses the first person who calls him.

This guy had a NDE and saw the future so you may not think this belongs in this thread. But when asked about whether our government was in tact after a coming future cataclismic event He says our government has not been in tact for a long time. There has been a coup. Bits of the info he talks about for us has been talked about elsewhere. Power outage from EMP's, possible volcano or earthquakes coming. We will be shaken substantially and have to start over. So what we are worrying about now Ca ne fait rien. Que serra serra.
But I found him extremely interesting and wanted to share.

I have wondered about that. I know Sean Hannity, someone I cannot tolerate, pushed Dr. Oz on him.

Uh-huh. Hannity also dipped into the Democrat playbook to ask Trump if he would vow to accept the results of the 2024 election.

    Good morning to all-
It seems that critics were very quick to jump on Joe Biden for his frequent verbal missteps and awkward statements- that's fair enough.

But when the former occupant tells a mass meeting of conservative Christians- which seems to me to be something of a contradiction, but set that to one side- that "You won't have to vote anymore" if they help elect him in November, it seems to me that voters really need to have an explanation of his meaning in that statement.
And of course, no explanation is coming.

It doesn't seem quite fair that Joe Biden was taken to account every time he said something inaccurately or just made a verbal mistake, and yet the former occupant gets to say something like this- and to be honest, this statement has some very sinister and shady tones to it, and he gets to move right along and keep on spouting his words.

Just imagine if Joe Biden had said this...

you all be safe and keep well- Ed

There’s a discussion of this in the Trump 2024 thread beginning with post 957. Maybe you would like to read it there or maybe this post can be merged to keep it all together?

Yesterday, Joe Biden, still sitting president, called Speaker Johnson “Dead on Arrival” twice. People are asking if it was a threat? https://hotair.com/david-strom/2024/07/30/biden-calls-speaker-johnson-dead-on-arrival-twice-n3792451

There are statements made every day by political candidates that the other side wants to exploit. It's going to be a long hot campaign.

You did an excellent job of explaining exactly what President Trump was saying at that rally when he was trying to encourage more Christian’s to get out and vote, “just this once, please”, because it is so important due to the ballot cheating we know is going to happen again this time. Trump also explained that it would just need to be this one time, because we are going to stop the election fraud before the 2028 election happens; but we need to ALL vote this time in order to get more dedicated MAGA Americans into office so that we can stop election fraud.

Unfortunately, the lying news media only repeats snippets of what President Trump says, and then explains it in some ridiculous way, like they did with this statement Trump made. Even though most people now understand that the news media have known about Biden’s dementia for the last few years, but lied on the news to cover it up; they still do not apply the truism that if a person is a liar in one thing, they are going to lie about everything.
They think news people only lied about Biden and told truth about Trump .

Another thing that many people, (even some conservatives) do not seem to get, is that when Trump is speaking at a rally, he is often just chatting with those thousands of people there, and not following a pre-written speech , so every word is not thought out, he just speaks his thoughts. Since Trump has an amazing sense of humor, he jokes with the crowd.
The people at the rally (or listening to the rally) get the whole context and understand the joke .
The news people act like it was a serious statement, and twist it around for all they are worth, to try and make Trump look bad; so the people who do not actually listen to what Trump says, and only hear the news, only get the distorted statements.

One of the things that most of the people who change from being a never-Trumper, is that they say they actually listened to what Trump said, and understood it, and realized the news was lying and mis-reporting what Trump said.

While everyone seems to be taking it in stride, let's cool it with the personal attacks, please, and I'm not talking to anyone (or any side) in particular.

I haven't seen the whole video, but what I've heard seem to be another case of taking his statement out of context, what's new. I know exactly what he meant because he knows many christians, because of some, what i believe to be misconstrued beliefs imo, don't vote. He wants them to open their eyes and see what's at stake this time 'round.
