That’s just it. There’s no such thing as the perfect candidate and everyone should know that but sadly, you’re right. The Evangelicals are waiting for someone akin to the likes of Jesus, the gun owners who don’t vote probably want the reincarnation of Charlton Heston and maybe if one of the Rothchild’s would run, the Jews might make a better turn out. What gets me is that there are towns and small cities where a single vote made the difference in who was elected. That is when folks moan and groan about the person in office knowing that they didn’t even vote. Look at how AOC won her position. I guess the incumbent thought he would win so he didn’t campaign and the voters didn’t bother voting because they too thought he would win. Heck, I know that they’re going to try to rig the election but I’m still going to vote, just in case. A person may live in the safest neighborhood in the world but some will still lock their doors and own a gun…..just in case.
In Maine, we have former union members who have been out of work or retired since the mill closed nearly 20 years ago who still vote Democrat even though they oppose pretty much everything the Democrat Party stands for. The Democrat Party is only successful because its base doesn't want to hear any facts.
I've been a member of a strong gun rights organization here in Virginia since 1990. If there's a direct threat, then people mass to the rallies, pat each other on the back, and go home. But during an off-year election no one can be bothered to show up to the polls. This is how self-government fails us. Everyone loves an event (as though that's gonna make a difference tomorrow), but few want to be engaged on a routine basis.
I think this year will be different with all the issues that are stacked up and visible. Even my oldest brother is voting (unfortunately my whole family votes democrat)
And a lot of people, especially old people, believe some of the claptrap. I knew old people who would vote for Democrats because they believed the Democrat mantra that "the Republicans are going to do away with Medicare an Social Security". The only one s who raided Medicare were the Democrats to make the ACA look more affordable and every president since (and including LBJ) has raided the Social Security "trust fund"...well maybe not since Clinton since they have apparently done away with Federal budgets since then and rely on "spending bills" and "continuing resolutions". Nobody in the Federal government pays any attention to Federal income any more.
That's why Medicare and Social Security become issues every presidential election year. The real threat to Social Security isn't ending it - it's extending it to everyone.
Well maybe at some point voters are going to recognize that even prominent D's have left the Party to support Trump. Did anyone else mention this one yet? Good interview (just over 4 minutes).
I really enjoyed seeing and hearing from President Trump on the Gutfield show. At first I thought, oh no because they are so crazy on there, but sometimes pretty funny. I thought it was great, and Trump got in a couple of great laughs Sorry if someone already posted this, I'm just not up to reading every reply on here this evening:
This is the BEST video on Trump. Share it!!! Spoiler alert: it is done by a black gay person. He said so.
As I have said before, Kamala is appealing to the stupid and uninformed. I, myself, when Trump first started campaigning and I heard all the "clips" of what he allegedly said, went to the actual speeches and once things are in context you can see that he never said what they claimed. The people who believe the nonsense have never done the research as this man has.
