Except for: -Price -No seasonality -Varieties unavailable here There are upsides to a global market. I like my San Marzano tomatoes. And given what I've seen of the Federal government in my lifetime, the relative risk of foreign-grown foods compared to our "oversight" is not as great as I once thought it to be. Certain farmers could label their stuff "Enemies of the State" so we know that the standards are enforced against their produce.
There are many places between the U.S. and Chile to buy fresh produce without seasonality, and for those seasonal things that are not available such as apples, we can just do without. There are lots of stored apples though. We get stored apples from Washington state nearly year round.

Some dummies dunk their whole FROZEN turkey into the fat and do it in their basement, thus sometimes losing their entire house in the process.
It kinda makes me laugh. At some point, we need to step aside and let Darwin do his magic. Some guy on another forum was extolling the virtues of the Cook-in-Bags for turkey. More than one smart-alek asked for directions when deep frying.
