We still haven't had any snow, to speak of, in Millinocket but we're up north for a couple of days, and there is snow here. Not a lot, though. We did have a dusting of snow one morning in Millinocket but all I had to do was turn away for a little bit and it all went away.
The last two dire snow storm warnings we've received have amounted to little or nothing. So far, the only snow we've had that needed to be shoveled occurred while we were in Virginia, and my neighbor took care of that. We were supposed to have up to eight inches of snow last night, and we did get some, but not nearly that much. I'm waiting for someone to plow our driveway for us but was able to drive the car out of it without shoveling around it, so we got probably a couple of inches. Our house blocks most of the snow, so we don't get any drifting. Often, the worst problem we have is what the town leaves for us at the end of our driveway. We're supposed to have more on Christmas, but I wish they'd quit exaggerating every storm warning so that I can know what to actually prepare for. Usually, we get about a quarter or less what they say we're going to get.
We're getting hit with a large snowstorm today. I woke up to find about four inches on my balcony, and it's still snowing heavily.
Snow on Christmas Eve accumulated about 2 inches on top of ice. I had just purchased two 50 pound bags of rock salt a couple of days before when I heard snow was in the forecast.
When life hands you snow...make snow cones...and a snowman/snow person....make plenty of snow balls and have a snow ball fight. Make yourself and igloo, a snow fort, etc. Try to enjoy the snow....and ship us some.
Not counting Canada (because, after all, who would count Canada), it looks like I win. The only upside to these temperatures is that it doesn't snow when it's this cold.
Yes, don't count Canada @Ken Anderson ...I have a few Canadian friends in Ontario and there pretty darn cold this year too.
Looks like this is going to be a Winter to remember for a lot of us! I'm going to the Library tomorrow and get plenty of books to read while it's so cold. We may even have snow again next Tuesday and that would be a record for us as far as I can remember.
