    Yes, there are regular snow tires, which have a more pronounced tread, and then there are studded tires, which are very nice to have, particularly when your winter journeys include hills and mountains. Given that I was stuck in my plowed driveway last year, with studded tires, I guess I need new studded tires. I also need to carry something heavy because my Tracker is so light that it gets stuck easily. Bags of kitty litter should do it, since they can also be used for traction if I get stuck.

    The area in North Idaho where Yvonne hails from (Bonners Ferry / Sandpoint) there’s a tire and brake company which changes everyone’s regular tires to snow tires and studs for free. When spring hits, they do the reverse and again, it costs nothing but time.

    Only nine states allow no use of studded tires, and they would be of no use in some states, such as Hawaii, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida. Some states only allow the use of rubber studs, which seems pointless to me, but maybe they do some good. Studded tires are legal here from October 1 to May 1.

    Our morning snow is all gone but since it's still raining, we'll probably have more snow tonight when the temperatures drop.

    I like to see it snow here. It's pretty when it's falling and usually is gone by the next day.

    @Shirley Martin
    Come now, I MIGHT have implied it through "interpretive meaning", but did not say it applied specifically to any one individual!
