A guy on another forum stated that meteorologists are like fishermen--you can't believe a word they say.
They predicted 1" - 3" for us yesterday with temps in the upper 20's. This morning I woke up to 9 for a temp and at least 7" of snow LOL
More than 24 hours late, but now we're getting some heavy snow. I doubt we'll get the two feet of it they predicted for yesterday, though.
We had a fair amount of snow last night. Nothing to panic about but we had a reprieve this afternoon just long enough to get things plowed and shoveled before it started up again.
I have to get out this afternoon to see if I can get my driveway plowed wide enough for a delivery truck on Friday. It is clear and cold again now, down to 0 F. again this morning, but heavy snow is predicted for the weekend.
I think we're probably getting more snow this year than we usually do, but we usually get a few days to a week's reprieve between storms so it hasn't been too painful. I suppose there's psychological value in the fact that they always forecast about twice as much snow as we actually get. I was thinking that the snow hasn't been so bad but it's awfully high. It helps too, that I have someone who regularly plows us out, but I still have to dig the car out so that he can get in the driveway with the plow, as well as shoveling the paths to the doors and to the oil tank. We only have a small portion of the roof that needs to be shoveled, since the rest of is it metal, and we pay someone to do that. A few years ago, I didn't mind getting up on the roof so much but I don't feel so confident up there anymore.
We are predicted to get snow, too. They were predicting big snow, but now they are saying just a couple of inches as most of the snow is either going north or south of us. We'll see, as usual what really develops.
Don't think we're going to get a snow this winter. We usually get at least one, and it's only 2 weeks until March.
Woke up to a scattering of snow here today, very unexpectedly. It is so cold that the ramp down from the front porch is still frozen and white, and even though the temperature is supposed to be about 36, it says feels like 31, and it sure does ! There is more rain and freezing rain headed through our area today, so we have decided that the smart thing is not to go anywhere because even if it looks fine when we left, it could be a freezing rain by the time we came back home. So...... no swimming for me today ! But that hot tub sure would feel great.
We've been having Spring type weather here with high temps in the mid 80's. Been checking the weather and temps in northern Colorado and well below 32 degrees, with some snow falling at times. People there know the kind of winter weather that is there and simply wait it out until May and beyond hit. Can't be a "Snowbird", so must take the winter with the summer. Wife told me this AM, "sure glad we kept our heavy winter parkas, gloves and vehicle snow/ice scrapper." I totally agree.
