Borrowing money from China to send to Ukraine is madness.

Ukraine has now hit a Russian bomber base in Russia. I can see how the Ukrainians want to do that, but I can't see how NATO would endorse it. It has probably brought us to Defcon 2. Imagine how we would have reacted to Saddam Hussein had attacked Guam or Diego Garcia when we were bombing him from there, and this is inside the territory of Russia so it would be akin to attacking Missouri. Ukraine says they hit one bomber loaded with conventional weapons, while Russia says they shot it down over the base. Brink of nuclear war maybe?

They ant to back Russia into a corner, but they are apparently willing to cut their own arms and legs off to do it.

American prisons are known around the world as especially brutal. Arms dealer Viktor Bout says, though, that transgender inmates get a pass and are treated better than other inmates. The world gets stranger every day.

Many Europeans will be cold and hungry this winter and that will be blamed on the Russians and the Ukrainian conflict. I apologize for being flippant because I feel for those people but that's Putin the cart before the horse. There's at least one honest member of the European Parliament. Clare Daly makes me proud to be half-Irish.

"... because, my God, all wars are evil and all victims deserve support and until we get on that page we have no credibility whatsoever."

Now Israel has called up reserves and staged a "snap drill", the equivalent apparently of scrambling aircraft but with ground forces. They are also threatening to attack Lebanon if Iranian weapons are found to be coming into the Beirut airport. All kinds of rumors flying behind the scenes. One has the Russians signing a secret agreement with Poland in which Poland will get a good portion of western Ukraine if/when the Russians overrun the place. The U.S. has supposedly agreed to give Poland nuclear weapons to forestall that from taking place. If Russia finds that the U.S. has given Poland nukes, Russia will send nukes to Iran in response. All rumors of course, but that might explain the craziness of Poland demanding reparations from Germany. That part is confirmed by Western news sources but no one can (publicly) figure what was behind that demand since both are NATO members. Turkey is also playing games and trying to straddle the proverbial fence between the combatants.

In the latest I have found on the Ukraine front, the U.S. is setting up a Patriot missile screen over Ukraine from Poland, essentially a No-Fly Zone with equipment managed by U.S. personnel acting as "inspectors". Biden previously has nixed this idea, as he claimed it would be the start of WWIII. What happened?

Also the UK has now admitted publicly that the SAS has been operating within Ukraine to attack Russian facilities such as bridges and pipelines. All interesting stuff as we slide toward nuclear war.

The powers that be are in a panic as more and more people see their cruel and murderous machinations for what they are. These scum see war as the magic that will restore their failing grip over us. In my younger, agnostic, pragmatic years I'd never have imagined that I'd see good and evil coalesce into such an easily recognizable divide, nor that I'd be praying everyday. These are, indeed, the times that try men's souls.
All that sounds pompous and laughably over dramatic but I can't do better.

They are trying to get out of a depression by starting a war with Russia. Documents released in Germany have shown that Merkel was helping to plan this for years. They hoped to fool Russia long enough that they could change the Ukraine government and pump NATO aid into the country to build its military into the most powerful in Europe, eclipsing all the NATO countries except the U.S. It is similar to the strategy employed in Barbarossa during WWII. I think only you and I follow this, @Dwight Ward so hopefully the others will not be caught off guard. Russia has annihilated the most powerful unit in the Ukraine military, taking out 70% of the force according to Ukraine figures, so it may actually be more. I think it was either the 93rd or the 92nd battalion. The commander of the unit, one of the most experienced leaders in the Ukrainian army was also killed.

... kinda makes you wonder who really won WW2.

US sides with Germany and Italy in opposing anti-Nazi resolution

The UN General Assembly adopted the Russian proposal, which the collective West opposed

Germany, Italy, Austria and Japan were among the 50 members of the UN General Assembly who voted against the Russian resolution to condemn glorification of Nazism, joining the annual opposition by the US and Ukraine. (my bold)

The final vote on Thursday afternoon was 120 in favor, 50 opposed and ten abstaining. In addition to the former Axis powers, other notable “no” votes included Canada, the UK, France, Spain, Poland, Czechia, Poland, Hungary, and the three Baltic states. Switzerland, South Korea, and Türkiye were among the notable abstentions.

Moscow proposes the resolution every year, urging the UN to combat the “glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to the escalation of contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance.”

I have believed for years that Germany actually came out of the war better than any of the Allied nations. Britain destroyed itself after the war and lost their Empire to boot. We--the U.S. mainly--rebuilt Germany (and Japan) from the ground up and provided them with all new industrial equipment while our industries languished with outdated facilities that were soon surpassed by the "defeated" countries. Germany has economically dominated Europe for years, but especially since the Reunification. Those in this country that denounce Hitler actually follow Nazi precepts, just as Antifa is actually a Fascist organization with Fascist and Nazi tendencies. We were duped my friend, and if Russia loses the war, we will be overtaken and dominated by Nazi sympathizers that our fathers, uncles and grandfathers thought they were defeating.
