I'll get it for sure, but won't be first in line. I have a feeling a different vaccine may come out the winner. The storage and transportation problems, and the fact that you need 2 shots, with the Pfizer vaccine, seem almost prohibitive.
I'm with you on that, @Mary Miller. I am not anti-vaccine but I am certain that if I got every vaccine developed for everything they wanted to protect me against, I'd be sicker for it. The shingles vaccine makes sense to me because shingles is a miserable thing to have and because I am not aware of a lot of complications to that vaccine. If I wasn't pretty sure that I have never had chickenpox, I might get that one. But flu vaccines are about 30% effective, if that, and I was sick for several days after the only time I have gotten a flu vaccine. As for the Chinese coronavirus vaccine, COVID-19 seems to be less serious than the seasonal flu, despite all of the hype, so I'll wait and see what happens to those who get the vaccine. There are just too many lies surrounding COVID-19 that I don't believe anything I hear.
I've also never had a flu shot, and don't plan to have one. Same for the Covid-19 vaccine; I won't be getting it.
I'll get it. Sometimes you have to trust. I've had the flu a couple of times, also walking pneumonia 3 or so times, as well as viral encephalitis (which was the worst of all). The main reason is my wife's health, as she gets infusions once a month and has a compromised immune system because of RA - I just can't let myself take the slightest chance, even though that is the only time she goes out - I do pickups for groceries, medicine, etc.
I think that each person knows whether they need a vaccine or not, depending on how strong their immune system is. Both Bobby and I have killer immune systems, and we take supplements to keep them as strong as possible. Neither of us is apt to get any kind of a vaccine; but some people don’t have good immune systems, and then they do not feel safe and secure unless they have all the possible vaccinations.
Not really. I'm just a homebody and don't see any need to having more foreign materials injected into my body than necessary. I am not an "anti-vaxxer" by any means, but I don't see the need in flu vaccine that may or may not be the effective strain of the virus.
According to the latest news Moderna's vaccine is 94% effective and could be given to some as early as mid-December. I hope that is true, and according to the report, those with underlying conditions, such as my wife who has a compromised immune system because of RA, and who are older than 70 or so, may be the first ones (after those in the medical field such as nurses, first responders, etc) to get it.
I am currently undecided on taking a vaccine for the Chinese virus. There is a lot of misinformation floating around right now so it's wait and see.
