From what one of the victims said, he had a bunch of tapes and digital stuff that was used to protect him. Blackmail the rich and powerful to stay in "business".
I don’t know if this is so or not, but I also read that he had what is called a “dead man’s switch”, which was supposed to keep him from being suicided/murdered. This would go along with what @Don Alaska said about Epstein having blackmail tapes and email records; so he probably needed something to blackmail his clients and also to keep them from killing him. In any case, if true, then a lot of the important information on the other people he was involved with may be actually coming to light anyway, even without Epstein alive to testify. We don’t know how much they were able to elicit from him before he was pronounced dead, but I am sure that he was being thoroughly questioned about everything, and now, they are executing search warrants on the island home where the underage girls were supposed to have been being kept.
My very first thought when I saw the news the Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide was, another death at the hands of Bill and Hillary Clinton.
I got the impression that AG Barr had at least some of the tapes already, but I am sure that whoever arranged the death knew of the recordings and may have had many destroyed.
I originally thought this was 'children', but it seems they were generally willing teens (15-20), not trafficked sex slaves. It included an exciting lifestyle and lots of money. Given our current world, most, if not all, were probably sexually active before the fact. I doubt every male that knew or interacted with him was a participant. I'm not at all suggesting it was right or legal , nor is there any excuse for it, but the media is planting words and stretching the truth, much as they always do. It's making it more lurid story than it actually is in order to boost revenue.

@Bess Barber , I have to disagree with you about that. Apparently, they were lured by promises of glamorous jobs. Whether they were sexually active is immaterial. Rape is rape. Young girls being forced to give erotic massages to old men is almost as bad as rape. I believe that he and his cohorts deserved prison terms. I'm not sure I would have sentenced him to death .
