Since turning 80 a couple years ago, I have become less and less enthusiastic about climbing on my Weight Bench and doing Bench Presses and Butterflies.

Now I've stopped altogether, although I still toss around a pair of Dumbbells.

If you know that you are no longer able to safely use your exercise equipment due to loss of strength, then it was probably a good thing that you stopped lifting the heavy weights, @Hal Pollner .
As long as we are getting exercise, and doing it safely, then that is very beneficial for our health and longevity; but we always have to do what is still within our physical limitations.
I can remember when I was younger, I used to pack around 50-80 lbs bags of grain for the horses and heavy bales of alfalfa; but I know that I just don’t have the strength to do that kind of thing anymore.
Since it is not necessary for me to lift that much weight, I am perfectly happy with swimming, walking, and other similar exercises that help strengthen my heart and keep my muscle tone working better.

@Gloria, it's a free-standing cardboard cutout from his film "Stagecoach" (1939). The Duke was 32 at the time.

I saw that cutout standing in a Department store and asked the manager if he would sell it to me. He said I could have it for a Quarter!

Weightlifting Bench with weights. (Barbell on floor not included.)

Buyer must pick up at my residence.

Even for free I doubt anyone on here will drive to your house to pick it up.

And non members can’t see pics on here.

    OK, Chrissy...you're right, of course.

In fact, don't know why I even thought of advertising weightlifting gear on a Seniors forum!

This was really stupid, and I feel like a jerk.:(

You really do not have to feel that way Hal. I truthfully didn’t think you were trying to sell or give away your stuff to any of us but merely saying that you bought a bunch of stuff thinking you would use it but do not.

A lot of people do that. They buy RVs, workout gear, campers, a boat and like us, fishing gear that has been sitting around for a couple of years.
We all dream, we all imagine (especially us guys) about doing stuff we probably will not do but hey, it’s normal so no need to bang your head against the wall. :)

By the bye Hal, if you were indeed a lot closer to us, I’d probably take them off of your hands.

If you’re on Facebook...they have local groups that you can list stuff on or a neighborhood app like Nextdoor.

@Hal Pollner you could try Craigslist for your area if you are really interested in ridding yourself of the equipment. You might also donate the stuff to a local high school or college.

I wouldn’t trust anyone coming to my house off of craigslist....that site is scary.

He could meet them somewhere with the machine but that might be a pain in the butt...don’t know how heavy it is etc.

On the contrary, @Bobby Cole, since my wife bought it for me, I've put that equipment to regular use for 17 years until I turned 80 two years ago.

Regular use has kept me trim and fit, but now old age is beginning to slow me down, which is why I recently joined a Senior fitness group, which uses computerized equipment tailored to the age and condition of the individual, and supplies the correct resistance levels and repetition limits.

I also now have a Recumbent Trike which I will enjoy after the Winter.

Over the years I've managed to retain my 6' 2" and 200 pound status, even though my pushup numbers have decreased.

    AND...I have no beer belly!

    Cheers,
    Hal

No “beer” belly here either but I’m getting a pretty good 6 pack going. :)

I have a layer of fat covering my abs, and I don't want to kill myself just to make 'em visible!

    Let's see yours, @Bobby!
