Yes it probably does either directly or indirectly. I'm just saying in a knee operation, being very obese would be more of a problem than smoking.
Both of our BMI"s say we are obese, but we've seen ladies at Wal Mart, and other places, that would make my wife look like she is a size 2. I have a little belly "hang-over", but have definitely seen bigger bellies than I have. My brother is short and his belly "hang-over" can definitely be seen. Wife use to work with a lady that must have had a huge BMI, because she was definitely heavy and had problems with her back and knees. We will get our BMI down. Last night we played our Wii Game for 2 hours. Bowling, Table Tennis and Tennis. Those kinds of games will get the old adrenaline pumping!
Re smoking - yes its obvious its not a good thing to start, but everything in moderation is OK If you quit and become a jabbering wreck, eat or drink more, sulk more - where's the good in that !
I think I've gone downhill since I quit smoking, I was happier when I smoked. I'd probably be in worse shape health wise but it was a great stress reliever for me. When things were crazy somewhere or I'd had enough, just going outside all by myself and smoking a cigarette was heaven.
@Chrissy Page - exactly what I mean, you have to weigh up the pros and cons, I've experienced stress many times awful it is
I won't start smoking again though because now it's become stressful to find places you're allowed to smoke here in CA. Plus my whole family hates it but the minute I get the terminal diagnosis, I don't care what anybody says I'm going to die smoking, lol.
I stopped totally smoking just before meeting my wife. I never smoked enough to have any kind of problem quitting. However, did stop smoking, but had been using Skoal "dip". Wife could put up with the Skoal and spitting, but after spending a number of years married to a heavy smoker and drinker, didn't want that kind of man again. She also met a number of my rodeo friends that used that tabacco. Within a year, or so, stopped the Skoal as well. I think we are both extremely happy that I don't use tabacco anymore at all. It sure would have made my Diabetic II worse. Yes, exercise can be fun, like when we are on our boat, at the Range and playing our Wii Game.
Id rather live with a smoker than a tobacco chewer. Don't mean to offend but I can't stand when they spit it out. I just can't stand any kind of spitting.
Well, neither of you have ever been around the rodeo industry. One thing a rodeo cowboy doesn't want to do is drop his lite cigarette on his horse. Tabacco spit isn't going to get a cowboy thrown on the ground. Heck, I've even know women who used "dip". It sort of shocked me that some women used this stuff, but, like I have been, a person has to be around the industry, around Stockyards, horse/tack sales, farms/ranches. Anyway, on with the Thread about BMI.
At my last total physical, two months ago, my doctor told me my BMI was a bit low. I wonder what that means. He said I needed to gain a bit. My BMI is 20.8008582.
According to this you're okay....but your Dr knows you better so I'd listen to him. I'm 5'4" and weigh 128....and I'm at the higher end of my weight right now, usually I'm about 125-126. BMI Categories: Underweight = <18.5 Normal weight = 18.5–24.9 Overweight = 25–29.9 Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater
@Chrissy Page , I'm at 123 lbs., and I'm 5'5". I think the problems is that from the waist down I wear a size 6, and that's baggy. I can't stand tight clothes. Shoulder to shoulder, (across the back), I'm 20 inches, and I wear a 3XXL, or if the cut is large I can get away with 2XXL for my blouses. My bust size since I was 10 has been 42DD. So no dresses for me unless I make them myself. I look a bit like a V. Maybe a bust reduction would help, but then I would weigh even less. It's funny now, but my Michael like heavy women. Now I really don't care what I look like.
