Last night I watched Flash of Genius with Greg Kinnear.....It's the story os how Ford tried to cheat him on the invention of delayed windshield wipers.
I haven't been able to go to a movie theater for decades because of hearing losss. But I can watch all the movies I want on TV.
Forgot what great acting was like plus a good movie, I also forgot lots of the movie so it wasn'r boring .
Tonight I watched Brighton Beach Memoirs again for the 50th time I just absolutely love it! It’s my favorite Neal Simon play and takes place during the Great Depression, only Simon could take such a dismal time and find the humor in it.
Recently watched the 1978 color version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers with Donald Sutherland, Jeff Goldblum, Leonard Nimoy, & Brooke Adams. I always felt the 1956 black & white version is a classic with Kevin McCarthy & Dana Wynter, Still my favorite version maybe because of nostalgia. The basic story is seeds float to Earth from outer space, they grow into pods that when place near a sleeping human, they replicate the sleeping human. This sci-fi story with a touch of Horror is a thriller. With excellent actors and acting, and decent special effects. To me It was enjoyable version of this story to watch.
I'm watching an oldie, "Ordinary People" with Mary Tyler Moore and Donald Sutherland. They look so young. This is one of the only movies I've ever seen where I actively disliked the Mary Tyler Moore character; she's a jerk.
Stromboli (1950) - Ingrid Bergman Bucket list movie. I always wondered what it was all about. You could look at it as a very frustrating situation to be in, and be terribly depressed. Or, you could look at it as...there are worse things in life than to be stuck living on a volcano where everyone speaks a different language. Ending left up to the imagination. Would not recommend. There were some interesting scenes of tuna boat fishing. Watched on TCM. Dialog was difficult to understand due to dubbing in English with Italian accents. YouTube has a version with English subtitles. Doesn't make the movie any better, imo. Some professional reviewers actually say this is one of the greatest movies of all time. Maybe it's just me.
Interesting. I've not heard of it. I grabbed this tidbit from the movie's WIKI page: Different times, huh? I believe they were both married at the time. She had approached him and said she wanted to work with him, and the two of them created a joint production company specifically to make that film. Then there was lots of controversy over rights to the film regarding unauthorized edits made in RKO's English version. Perhaps all that chaos bled through on the screen. I've always liked Bergman. For Whom The Bell Tolls is one of my all time favorite movies...but I've always liked Cooper as well.
I actually remember as a kid when Ingrid Bergman was Yeah, I vaguely remember as a kid that you were not supposed to like Ingrid Bergman, but no one ever explained why.
