Land From the synopsis, I didn't get the idea that I would enjoy this movie. It's described as a psychological drama about a woman who moves from the city to Wyoming, where she lives in a small cabin in the wilderness, intending to live without anything connecting her to the rest of the world, not even a car or a telephone. A bear thrashes her cabin and eats most of her supplies. She tries hunting but can't bring herself to shoot a deer. Later, while injured during a snowstorm, she passes out, and is found by a local hunter, who helps her to recover, then returns to teach her to trap, hunt, and grow food. It's watchable.
I'm in the middle of The Strange Love Of Martha Ivers - a rather dark (pardon the pun) film noir from 1946. ... a famous cast featuring the lovely, sexy Lizabeth Scott in some rather risque (for 1946) scenes. I'm in love again.
Indiana Jones got old! Went to the new Indiana Jones movie today with the kids. I thought it was quite good. The reviews are bad. It doesn't have much CG like the movies young people like. But my kids grew up with Mommy watching Raiders every so often so they liked it. Indy had a new old side kick. And Solla was in it. (John Rhyes Davis?). And a grubby old sea dog with a familiar voice was in it. It was Antonio Banderas. Not much of a sex symbol but he was good too. Surprising Indy can still find another amazing artifact to find and another good/bad female to get involved. So much action and fun with the same good music.
I'm glad you liked it. It's been a financial flop for Disney (really low Opening Weekend numbers), and Harrison Ford has been on twitter begging people to go see it. Hard to believe that the original Raiders movie was over 40 years ago. Heck, that's two generations!!!
We went to the theater yesterday, and I wouldn't have minded seeing the Indiana Jones movie, but we wanted to see Sound of Freedom more, so I'll wait until the Indiana Jones movie shows up on Netflix or somewhere. We don't do theaters often.
I have been touting Sound of Freedom but I fear I could not handle seeing it. I made a contribution to their Underground Railway fund, when I read it was being funded by the proceeds from the movie, instead.
Same here, although I understand that the movie is not graphic. Apparently Disney bought the rights to the movie and sat on it for 5 years. I don't know what finally got it in theaters. Since the first showing, the media has been hammering on the movie, calling it a "far-right QAnon conspiracy." It looks like the movie struck a nerve.
Disney made a package deal to another company, including Sound of Freedom. Jim Caviezel is not 'in' with Qanon. He is 'in' with Jesus. You should see some of his interviews after The Passion. It disgusts me how people don't see what is going on with this. What is he seducing us to do? Save Children? Shame on him!
Of course it is! Now all the transgender and explicit sex education to kids in grade school makes some sense. Maybe more to prepare them for 'the trade'?
Watching "Selena" the true story of a young "Tex-Mex" singer starring Jenifer Lopez. If you like music, this is one for you.
The Trip to Bountiful (1985), starring Geraldine Page. I don't know why I never watched this movie before, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Geraldine Page was a national treasure and she won the Oscar for this performance. If you're interested, it's on Youtube for free... Also, there is a Lifetime movie remake starring Cecily Tyson.
I never watched it but my Brother told me years ago it was good and he always paraphrased the movie name after all of us started getting older. I got it on my todo list tomorrow after shopping. Right now it is raining and I mean it is welcome because the past several days have been just terrible hot.
