I was having some trouble streaming through Roku today so I have been listening to music instead, having iTunes pick songs at random for me, from a large collection of albums that I have on my computer. These two songs played one after the other, or I would never have noticed the similarities. The first is from an album of Confederate music, sung by Bobby Horton. The song is entitled, The South. If you have time, please listen through at least half of it before going on to the next one because the similarities are not immediately apparent. It’s a pleasant enough song, so I don’t think you’ll mind it. The second is O Beautiful Star of Bethlehem. The one that I listened to was performed by the Table Singers but I can’t find that one on YouTube by them, so here’s one by the Oakridge Boys instead. They are different songs, all right, but whoever wrote the second one had surely listened to the first. The basic melody is the same after the first short bit, even more so in the Table Singers version, as they performed it at about the same speed. Here's another, by Patty Loveless, which is probably closer to O Beautiful Star of Bethlehem.
So many songs to pick from. But I so enjoy the music from the 50's and 60's, but one of favorite is Sea Cruise, always reminds me of dad.
I'm sure everyone has some melodies or music they like. I must say I'm also a huge fan of music. And my listening repertoire ranges from sonatas to Toto's Steve Lukather as he strums George Harrison's 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps.' Then, I also listen to Justin Bieber's Sorry, Adele's Hello as well as Luther Vandross' Dance with My Father and Tunde's Shouldn't Be Like This or Corrinne May's rendition of Close to You. I listen to almost any kind of music and tunes.
I think I posted this before but I'm not finding it in music, so if I did...sorry. It's what I'm listening to now.
