    Sounds like a steak with a beer to drink.

    I had a steak that tender for lunch last Sunday but I didn't have beer with it. Only iced tea. The place I ate serves the steak with an onion and mushroom gravy. It's sooooo good.

    If you go to a Chinese restaurant and see what the Chinese are eating, I guarantee you it won't be battered and fried topped with a sweet sauce like what the Americans are eating. I usually get the chicken or beef with mixed vegetables plate.

    I pan-seared a small salmon filet, and had that slathered with lemon-garlic butter, like you would make for dipping lobster into. It was just SO delicious, and I had a salad along with that.
    It was so good that i am definitely going to have than again soon, and maybe with some zucchini next time instead of salad. The lemon butter would be perfect for the zucchini also, so I can make enough for both the salmon and the veggies.

    The "Steer & Stein" is a steak house in Victorville, CA.

    My wife and I go there on Wednesday or Thursday evenings about 3 times per month.

    When I don't have the Country Fried steak, I have a Seafood dinner. I usually have a 16-oz or a 32-oz Stein of Beer.

    Wife usually has the Tri-Tip Steak dinner and Wine.

    @Hal Pollner
    Am I mistaken, or was Victorville not the area near Roy Rogers' ranch?

    Frozen vegetable eggrolls, Ingle's store brand. No sauce. Better than most. One of these days I'm going to try to make eggrolls from scratch. :confused:

    I'm too lazy to make eggrolls so I just make the filling and eat it with a fork. You could also put it into a flour tortilla or pita pocket.

    SAUSAGE EGG ROLL IN A BOWL
    1/2 to 1 pound ground pork sausage
    1 pound of sauerkraut drained and rinsed or 1 bag of shredded cabbage coleslaw mix
    4 cloves garlic, minced
    1 tablespoon ginger, minced, I never have fresh ginger so I use 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger
    1/4 cup soy sauce or to taste
    1/4 cup chopped onions
    1 grated carrot
    1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil, very important

    Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook, stirring often to crumble, until cooked through, drain most of the grease, add the remaining ingredients and cook until heated through. If you are using fresh cabbage cover the pan and cook for a few minutes until the cabbage becomes tender.

    @Frank,

    Yes, Victorville is the location of the original Roy Rogers Ranch and the Roy Rogers Museum, which was moved to Branson, Mo. and is now closed for good. The RR Estate, Roy and Dale's last home, is in my neighborhood in Apple Valley on Tomahawk Road.

    Roy and Dale are buried in a crypt in our nearby Sunset Hills cemetary.

    Happy Trails...

    In my not so very humble opinion, egg rolls are only good when used with hot Chinese mustard, and shrimp cocktail isn't good anytime.

    Last night wife cut up/boiled some delicious broccoli and I baked a sweet potato and broiled a pork chop. As wife told me "nice dinner".

    Tonight, Friday, is our "eat out" night. Could be our favorite Mexican restaurant with a good margarita or to a large sports place to watch the Denver Broncos play and split a French Dip with fries dinner.

    Because of the amount of sugar that can be in Chinese food, we don't eat it anymore. We are both Diabetic II. But, I sure love the fried rice and Chow Mein and miss both.

    I believe I stated this in another thread of yours, Hal, that I went to a Steer & Stein in Mira Loma, CA. But, when I have either Country Fried Steak or Chicken Fried Steak, I have it at Cracker Barrel.

    Just got home from the fitness center, and my stomach was insisting that it was time to eat. Low-carbing it, so I made a Cobb Salad (which is just basically a BLT with no bread) , homemade blue cheese dressing, and some cooked zucchini.
    Tummy is now happy, and I am getting ready to relax with a nice hot cup of Oolong tea.
