I bought these because I couldn't find a smaller (less than around 12 fillets) package of fish fillets. I don't usually buy prepared fish stick/fillet type products, since I like to make my own from fresh or frozen fillets, but these are really good. I cooked them up last night for Ash Wednesday, with some sweet potato fries and had my coleslaw (Robert Irvine's recipe) on the side, and it was a really delicious meal. I've participated in some surveys, product trials, and focus groups about frozen dinners, and it seems companies really are trying to improve the taste and quality of their products. I made extra, so I can reheat the leftovers for tomorrow, and tonight I'll be cooking up some pork chops.
Smoked salmon, gruyere, gouda, and cheddar cheeses, crackers and pickled beets. First time I'd seen smoked salmon in a can like sardines.
I've never seen smoked salmon in a can either...that's interesting. I always buy smoked salmon fresh...don't like sardines nor do I like the usual canned baked salmon (unsmoked) but it would be interesting to taste smoked salmon from a can!
It was pretty good. Of course we don't get fresh salmon here, it's either canned or frozen. I like canned salmon and mackerel. Sardines too. This smoked salmon was in a flat can just like sardines.
Yum, @Sheldon Scott I enjoy sardines, mackerel & other canned fish, as well. @Ruby Begonia If you do try them, just make enough for one meal, unless you'll be re-heating them in the oven. The microwave (as expected) didn't keep the crispness, just as it doesn't with re-heated pizza and other foods. They were still very tasty, though. I'll definitely purchase them again. Tonight's dinner will again be leftovers, from Thursday this time. Pork chops done in the oven, with Italian and other seasonings, and the Uncle Ben's Mixed Rices that I got free from last week's Kroger Friday Freebie and some sort of veggie.
Little smokies sausages, cabbage, and some crowder peas today. Maybe an ear of corn too. I plan to make some pecan cluster candy this afternoon. I haven't made it before but it's easy to make. I hope it's good.
That dinner sounds good @Sheldon Scott and so do the pecan clusters. Are you going to use a recipe, or make your own? I'm looking forward to hearing and seeing how they come out. What are crowder peas? I've heard of them, but have never seen/tried them.
Crowder peas are similar to purple hull peas, black eye peas, and similar peas AKA southern peas, field peas, and cow peas. The candy is from a friends recipe only she used peanuts. 6 squares almond bark ( I didn't even know what that was) 12 oz. bag of semi sweet chocolate chips 2 cups chopped pecans. Melt almond bark and chocolate chips in microwave 2 minutes Stir to mix it well then microwave 1 more minute Stir in pecans the put spoonfuls on wax paper. So easy I could do it. I haven't tried one yet, waiting for them to cool.
Today we had lunch out with friends at a restaurant ...I had Roast leg of lamb so tender, that it just fell off the bone,,,with Yorkshire (batter) pudding) roast potatoes, mini sausages, Mashed potatoes, Carrots and Broccoli and gravy....too much on the plate I left half of it otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get up out of the chair.. .. so I won't be having any dinner this evening...
