Nothing fancy about the way I make it. There's a recipe on the Ocean Spray bag of cranberries. I think it's a cup of water, a cup of sugar, and the bag of berries. Bring to a boil and reduce heat, stirring until the berry skins "pop", about 10 minutes. Sometimes I add a little grated orange or lemon zest, but just the plain sauce is my favorite. Yep... here it is. https://www.oceanspray.com/en/Recipes/By-Course/Sauces-Sides-and-Salads/Fresh-Cranberry-Sauce
Here's the recipe I just tried at Thanksgiving: ******************************** 1 bag (12 ounces) fresh or frozen cranberries 1/2 cup packed dark-brown sugar 1 cup water 1 1/2 – 2 tablespoon finely grated peeled fresh ginger Pinch of ground cloves (less than 1/8 tsp) In a medium saucepan, bring cranberries, sugar, water, ginger, and cloves to a boil over high. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until cranberries have burst and sauce is slightly thickened, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature. ******************************** I only made it this way once...it could use more ginger root, and just the tiniest pinch of cloves. I usually make the recipe Beth cited. And I always use a potato masher to make certain that every berry pops so the sugar can get to it; otherwise, you end up with tart surprises.
I should have never made drop biscuts Thin cut fried potatoes, ham and gravy. He ate way too much. But it was tasty.
I went out and had Mexican. Drove into Charlottesville, shopped at Kroeger (the produce near me is truly horrid), then had a burrito, chips, cheese dip, etc. I'm getting sleepy....sleepy.... My eyelids are getting heavy....
-Salad -Walmart pizza with self-added veggies -Fudgesicle I was out last night & swung by Walmart at about 8:30PM to pick up a pizza for tonight's dinner. They were out of their refrigerated pizzas...had maybe 2-3 pies of a version I did not want. The rest of the display case was empty. I had errands to run today, so I went online this morning and their website showed that their pizza inventory had been replenished. Yup. The entire display case. Every variety, all stocked up again. I love capitalism.
I have had a rough week and it's only Wednesday. I just placed an order for Dominos to deliver a couple of their sub sandwiches and a chocolate lava cake.
Roast with gravy, whipped potatoes, carrots and green beans. Today's hubbys BD made one layer double chocolate cake.
Today I made quesadillas with some leftover roast beef, onions, peppers and cheese. Made guacamole and opened a can of Ranch Style Beans and called it a day.
Must be Mexican day. -Salad -Leftover restaurant burrito -Homemade refried beans -Spanish rice -Fudgesicle
