Today, I am making the cabbage pie, but added some mixed veggies, and a can of tuna fish, and used corn bread mix instead of the regular flour batter. It is Experiment Day today ! Edit to add: It turned out to be delicious ! Even Mr. Bobby liked it. It tastes something like cabbage pie and something like a tuna casserole, With all of the cabbage and veggies, it should be a healthy meal, too. Definitely going to be making this more often !
I actually wanted to make some kind of a tuna casserole, @Hedi Mitchell ; but I didn’t just want to have tuna and noodles. I wanted something with a lot of vegetables added to it, and I remembered you mentioning the cabbage pie the other day; so I decided to see how it would go with some tuna added to it, and made with cornbread, which I also really like.
That looks good! A chef friend showed me a real easy side dish that's boiled cabbage, drained, mashed with a potato masher, then add salt. It is extremely tasty.
Your post reminded me of a similar recipe I've made a few times. It might give you ideas. Fried Cabbage Texas Style
