Yum, that sounds delicious @Texas Beth. My supper turned out to be a bowl of pasta with a little butter, tomato sauce, and salt and pepper. I had that with a nice hot cup of tea with honey and lemon. I seem to have picked up some sort of bug, and the hot toddies are helping with the congestion. I actually added in some vodka, ginger and clove the other night and that was delicious and helped me sleep.
Supper tonight is Asian lettuce wraps. I bought the bag from Schwann's. Rather than use lettuce for wraps i put the food over rice or add Ramen noodles. It tastes qiite good and it has healthy ingedients.
How awesome to have your own private lake, @Sheldon Scott ! ! I would love that . When I lived in Missouri out in the country, there were three fishponds on the property, and part of my pleasure was going out and fishing for a catfish for my dinner. What kind of fish do you have in your lake ? Can you swim in it, or is the water too murky like pond water is ? Even if it had been cleaner, there were cottonmouth snakes and snapping turtles in my ponds; so they were definitely only for fishing.
Noticed a comment about a tomato sandwich. Years ago I was pleasantly surprised to discover that with a good tomato and some mayonnaise this can be a very tasty sandwich.
Yes, we swim in the lake but not often these days. I mounted a slide to an old pontoon boat but the grandkids are getting to old to be interested anymore. We have catfish, bass, bluegill, and crappie.
Not too sure what is for supper tonight. It is a week before payday and the pickings are slim. Plus the heat index is predicted to be 108. Ugh. I am thinking sandwhiches.
Sounds like a good choice, @Texas Beth ! I'm doing burritos and brown rice... and I made my own taco/burrito seasoning mix. Can't wait! I guess you're sending that heat my way because we're expecting indices over 100 by Friday afternoon, and close to 100 tomorrow. Ooooh, I may have to reconsider the pork chops I planned to make on Friday!
Wow, can't believe I'm cooler in Fresno in the 90's the rest of the week. Since this is the dinner thread, I'll say that I don't know what I'm having yet...could be just veggies. Maybe I'll make a few deviled eggs since I have a bag of boiled and peeled ones. Yes, I'm to lazy to boil and peel my own. This is one thing I don't save money on...convenience.
That's all I've bought for a while now, too, Chrissy. I was having such trouble with peeling hard boiled eggs... not sure why unless the shells are thinner now or something... but it was like discovering a treasure when I realized those were available. Oh, they're more "rubbery" I know, but definitely worth the trade-off. And yes, I *am* on topic because Chrissy may have deviled eggs for dinner! Deviled eggs... ummm, that sounds good, now that you mention it. Side dish for burritos? I guess I could throw a toss of cayenne in there and call 'em Mexican Deviled Eggs?
I wish i could say that I was having bbq and potato salad. I have been craving it since I went to bed last night. Thank goodness a bbq joint is being built down the road from me.
I had a BLT, my second favorite sandwich. My number one favorite is a Club. I would have to put a Cuban sandwich somewhere way up there too. They are absolutely delicious. Whenever, I have all of the ingredients, I have to have some of those sandwiches. I really need a Pannini Maker, I think I am going to ask for one for my birthday...Too bad it is still months away!
I had a veggie burger with a slice of the thin sliced Swiss cheese melted on it also some avocado slices and used taco sauce for my spread had it open faced on a slice of my low calorie, low carb flaxseed bread. Had baby carrots as a side. Dessert I had a vanilla Greek yogurt bar.
I'll have a BAT or just a BT, I don't want lettuce on any sandwich. I also like Reuben sandwiches. What is a Cuban sandwich?
