I'm trying a new white bean chili recipe in the crockpot today; it has great northern beans, pork tenderloin, chicken stock, cumin and a big jar of green chile salsa verde. Topped with chopped cilantro when ready to serve. I like all those things so hopefully it will be good. Also making cornbread to serve with the chili.

I add sour cream or cream cheese to mine. I like the idea of white chilli. We had plain ole red chili last week.

I had a late lunch/early dinner at a Mexican restaurant yesterday..."Carnitas." That's hunks of grilled seasoned pork. You get a large portion, and pork is filling, so I'll get another couple of meals out of it. Since there's no sauce and it's just a pile of seasoned meat, there are lots of options for making future meals.

    Tonight's gonna be:
    -Salad
    -Carnitas, Part II
    -Flour tortillas
    -Spanish rice
    -Refries

I love carnitas and have them almost every time we go to Chipotle (which is just about every Sunday). In my experience, carnitas are not grilled but are slow-cooked and more similar to pulled pork.

A big plate (approx 8 oz raw) of green beans from the Kroger produce section. Boiled and served with just butter and salt. No strings. Slightly sweet. Can't leave 'em alone.

I made a bucket load of split pea soup with barley, carrots, onions, my last bit of ham, garlic, white whine and maybe more spices than I should have added. Will let it sit a while to find out. But it tastes yummy.
