I'm trying a new recipe for Italian sausage, kale and gnocchi soup. Hope this isn't a waste of good ingredients.
Homemade chili. I am trying a new blend of spices my friend says is from an award-winning chili cook. It sure smells good, but you can't go wrong with well-marbled brisket cut in 1/2" cubes.
OK, this was nasty. I used store-bought gnocchi and it was awful, so I ended up dipping out all of them and adding cubed potatoes instead. That helped, but the soup was too rich (lots of cream) and just didn't work somehow.
It did sound great. I found several similar recipes online so I might try it again sometime. But not soon. (And I'll never buy store-bought gnocchi again.)
Made some "different" stuffed peppers on Sunday night. The filling was burger & pork with walnuts & golden raisins. The spices were cumin, smoked paprika, turmeric, and a Serrano pepper. I did a side of pasta in a garlic/olive oil dressing. I had leftovers last night. The peppers were much better after they sat for a day. I'm trying to find freezer room for the remaining 4.
Send me a PrePaid Fed Ex envelope and you got dinner! These truly were "thought-I-wasted-my-money" marginal the first night and spectacular the second.
