Interesting @Ina I. Wonder that you made that style of tableware. We have both lost several pounds so far on this vacation as you say must be all the walking
@Terry Page it's pretty basic slab and wheel work. I think I spent the first two years just learning to develop the earth into different types of clay, developing the glazes, constructing and firing kilns, which is the part most people don't have any idea of. At least with slab works you were able to make platters and such by pressing a slab of clay into a plaster mold. After about ten years of producing kitchen and tableware, I have only about ten pieces left for myself. Out of curiosity, what kind of souvenirs are you and Lisa taking home?
Tonight I broiled my grandson, Bobert, a 7"x4" slab of salmon with orange slices and garlic chives, with a baked potato and candied carrots. For me I fixed a pan sausage and mozzarella cheese roll up on a spinach tortilla. ( I am allergic to fish. ).
Lazy Sunday. Threw some Johnsonville Brat w/ cheddar cheese on the grill. Wife made some Ranch pasta salad thing. I should learn how to make the salad thing, it is my all time favorite. Then, I can say I can make something beside waffles.
@Tim Burr you made me realize I was missing Johnsonville Brats. i haven't fixed any in over 2&1/2 years. They were a favorite of my husband's, and I would fix them at least once a week in the summer. So, Up I got, and off to the market I went this morning. I picked up several kinds, and a new one to me, with green chilies.
I made some kimchi a few days ago, and it had fermented enough that I put it in the refrigerator last night. Today, I steamed some brown rice, and while it was cooking, I chopped up turkey ham, tomatoes, spinach, and added chives and a little basil to the mix. I left that to marinate in soy sauce, and then when the rice was done, I added the veggie mix to several eggs and scrambled the whole thing. We ate the rice and scrambled eggs, and I had kimchi with mine. My lemonade for the day was with ginger and grapes, which made an interesting mix, and I like the blend of lemons, ginger and grapes. Of course, I added lots of ice from the new ice maker ! ! The kimchi is quick and easy to make, and I am getting to like the taste of it better each time that I make it. Here is the recipe that I used. http://www.simple-veganista.com/2014/10/kimchi.html
@Bill Boggs the salad sounds good, but of the five or six TV dinners I've tried I can't seem to get over the blandness of them. Since I had rolled oats seasoned with cinnamon and cloves for breakfast this morning, I'll probably just have steamed mix veggies tonight, or maybe broiled zucchini with a little mozzarella cheese on top.
I had a simple green mixed lambs lettuce leaf salad with tomatoes and mayo... and a fillet of plain steamed salmon. Hubs had similar but he had a Bowl of Chilli peppered salmon fillet ...with the green mixed leaf salad , sliced sweet orange and yellow bell peppers ( I hate peppers)... Peppered cous -cous, black olives , tomatoes, a shaving of Parmesan cheese, and a drizzle of Extra virgin olive oil...
@Holly Saunders be glad you live far far away from me. Your husband's salad would be enough for me. Fish, especially the salmon, always looks great to me, but I'm allergic to fish. Although I do fix salmon at least once a week for Bobert. Since I'll be pretty busy tomorrow, (it's Bobert's mom, Patricia's, 53rd. birthday), I thought I'd post what I'm cooking for everyone tomorrow. We will have nice thick broiled T-bone steaks, lobster salad on a crispy toasted flatbread, baked potatoes with all the fixings, and carrot cake with a cream cheese icing.
Just back from the restaurant, the guinea pig roast was a success, I had alpaca steaks in a special sauce with quinoa. Lisa in yet another purchase today
