I will be getting mine tomorrow along with a number of other residents here at our Assisted Living facility. My PC doc or pharmacy could do it as well but having it available here where I live is convenient.
I won't be getting one, particularly since some studies have indicated that people who get the flu shot are more susceptible to the coronavirus. I don't know if I believe that necessarily, but I don't get flu shots anyhow. I'd rather have the flu than a flu shot.
i got my flu shot today--they didnt have the senior shot so i took the regular shot-they said their was no senior shots arround-and i dont want to have that covid19 shot when it comes in
It's supposed to be hit or miss if the vaccine is effective. I didn't get one last year and won't this year.
Maybe I'll try for Thanksgiving week this year. The October rush will be over and most people will be out of town here.
I'm 66 and have never had a flu shot in my life. I've not had the flu since I was a kid. I never got it during all my adult years of living, working and socializing in the highly transient crowded Washington DC area. I'm now retired in an area that has 3% of the population of Metro DC and not socializing a fraction of what I used to. The head of our state Dept of Health has said that he shall make getting the COVID vaccine mandatory when it becomes available, and believes he has the authority to do so under existing statute. We'll see how the lawsuits pan out (if and when.)
I believe the odds of predicting the right strain are about 33% and the odds of it being effective if they DO get it right are about 33%, so the odds of the vaccine being effective in any year are roughly 9%-10%. I may be wrong, but that's what I recall.
,I haven’t had one since 1967 and the only reason I got that one is I didn’t know it was a flu shot at the time I got it and even if I did, not one Army basic trainee is asked what shots he wants and which ones he doesn’t want. They stand as sort of a gift about 16 or so weeks before he gets a vacation to some far off warring land.
I'll get my flu shot probably the first week of october. Our home care nurse comes every week and will give the shots to both of us.
