Ironically, it has now been revealed that the Dems actually contributed to Trump's campaign. They didn't believe he could win the nomination, but they thought that if he did, it would make it a sure thing for Hillary. Also, the Biden Administration is now doing everything they accused Trump of doing.
There was a segment on PBS last evening that spoke to this issue. The Power Elite in most states seem to be those interested in governing and running for office. PBS showed that many State Legislatures are passing laws most citizens in the state don't agree with. This happens because most citizens don't want to devote a portion of their time to state politics or running for office. The Power Elite doesn't campaign on issues unpopular with the voters, they simply pass unpopular laws quietly once they're elected. This can be corrected by more citizens becoming more active in choosing their Representatives to government and following their votes once they are in office.
Leave it to PBS to attack the Republic. It would all be better if we only had Washington do it all...and look at all the money we could save.
There lies the problem, @Rose Flowers. Many voters listen only to the media if anything, and believe was is broadcast. That leads to "bad" people being elected. We have so many original sources available, but most people just eat what they are fed without foraging for their own information. We have one politician here who is running for a state office whose slogan is, "Now is the time." He doesn't clarify what it is the time for. He may be running on the idea of imprisoning all who oppose him, or perhaps instating the death penalty for those on welfare. Who knows, but I bet he gets a good number of votes based on his slogan. I don't even know what party he claims to represent. He doesn't publicize it. That is just an example. There are many more who run on the ignorance of the electorate. That is one reason I stopped voting for Democrats. I realized they are largely counting on their base being ignorant of what they are doing.
We got one flyer in the mail this campaign season that read Lower taxes, More Jobs and... I laughed when I saw it. It sounded like all the campaign promises of times past. Not how things would be accomplished just empty promises and platitudes.
??? The PBS segment wasn't attacking the Republic or suggesting Washington do it all. It was explaining how the Republic works when ordinary citizens don't get actively involved in running and monitoring their elected Representatives to the State Legislature. They said those legislators become the power elite and pass laws the majority of citizens don't agree with. Of course the same holds true for national elections, but the segment was about an author who had written about how State Legislatures get out of control when citizens don't closely monitor what they are doing.
I and others write on their own and sign petitions for groups such as campaign for Liberty, National gun rights association etc. Our 'reps' used to listen but the majority have stopped. I love my Congressman Grothman but one of my senators basically says up yours with the form letters returned. They pass laws that they exclude themselves from. What are we to do without Trump? Hubby said there is a time limit to when most of our reps are bought and paid for after elections. Or blackmailed.
I'm wondering if Nancy Pelosi may be more important to the elite than we think. She recently referred to China as one of the freest countries in the world. Anyone can guess at what she wants for Americans.
The first thing to do is realize that Representatives to Congress are from Congressional Districts that are generally small enough any citizen can run without spending a million reaching most of the citizens with your message. The second thing is, there is a small established clique of power elites in every Congressional District and they don’t necessarily welcome new candidates. Therefore it might be preferable to run as an Independent or maybe one of the new Forward Party candidates. The Forward Party is supposed to be a coalition of former Democrats and Republicans.
Creating controlled opposition is an ancient tactic practiced by totalitarian governments throughout history. More recently it was perfected by Queen Elizabeth and used to keep the British Empire going strong. I've been suspicious of Trump as possible controlled opposition, but as it's become obvious that they really hate him and want him out of the running, I will vote for him over others. He is wrong about the vaccine but right about other things, so he's preferable to any globalist. Overall, Americans are over reliant on finding a magic leader because we want the hard work done by someone else. Each of us may have to step up as individuals more than we want to to reverse the evil trends bearing down on us. I go to a court hearing on Sept 6 to force the local city police to return firearms they've illegally confiscated from me. I'm actually looking forward to the hearing and the opportunity to speak my mind, even if that causes me to be branded as a domestic terrorist. I have the law entirely on my side, but who knows if that means much nowadays. I have that hearing in Denton, Maryland on the 6th and go to Glen Burnie, Maryland the following day for an operation to place a stint in an aortic aneurism that is life-threatening. They go in through a vein in the groin and don't have to cut me open. I'll have a busy week. Wish me luck.
