From what I have been reading about AOC (as she is now known ) , she is extremely likely to run for President in 2024, and I think that it is quite possible that she can win, since she will be of age that fall. It appears that she has Soros-money backing her, and her background has been whitewashed to make it look like she comes from a low-income immigrant family. However, even Wikipedia says that she grew up in a town where it was 90% white people, and the median income was well over $100, 000. She attended Boston College, and worked for Teddy Kennedy when she was in college, and later was instrumental in the Bernie Sanders campaign. She ran against a congressman who had been undisputed for over 10 years, and didn’t even bother to show up for debates, he was so sure of winning again, so I think that she was placed somewhere that she had an excellent chance of winning, especially with her Puerto Rican background. I have seen the ridiculous memes, and that makes me wonder just what is going on, and I think that she is probably a lot smarter than she is being portrayed, but that is hard to say at this point in time. She does seem to stand up for what she actually believes in, and some of that is sensible, like saying that congress should not get paid when they shut the government down. The idea of using “greener” power is a good one, and I would like to see more use of solar or wind power, and other things that this world has an abundance of. Since many of the younger age people who were Bernie supporters, will undoubtedly support AOC, and by 2024, even more of that age group will be able to vote, I think that she has a good chance of being elected. There is so much Trump-hate that is being spread around that many of the younger people believe that socialism is a good thing, and that we NEED to ban weapons, and give everyone free college, etc. One of the things she seems to encourage is government-supported jobs, which she says will help more Americans have a job. This makes me think of early Russia, where the government controlled everything, and people were forced to work, or they had no money and no food. So, if all of her new government free benefits only come with forced employment, there are going to be a lot of people who are not pleased once that happens. But they won’t have any more guns by then, anyway.......
I believe she has an economics background, so many people are amazed that she makes so many stupid statements like "Everybody has two jobs" since that doesn't affect the unemployment at all. If she doesn't know that, she should have flunked out of BC. There is fear among the Dems that she and her like will so fragment the party that they won't have any chance in 2020. Who knows?
I don’t think there’s one politician who hasn’t made a stupid statement... Can you name one @Don Alaska ?
The unusual part was that she made statements within her field, on subjects that she should have been familiar with, and they were absurd. Usually politicians make stupid statements about things they know nothing about and for which they have no background. That is what made her statements different.
That could be @Don Alaska ...like I said I barely know her and just recently noticed her. If she ever runs for president, that will long be forgotten anyway. She is still very young and inexperienced.
I don't see anyone who can beat Trump. The Dems have no one who can win and I don't like any of them anyway. I'd like to see another strong republican run against Trump but I don't know who that would be. I think we're stuck with this NY realtor till 2024.
I can’t use two words when describing D.Triump. Stuck and Realtor. For one, when I view the possible alternatives that ran in the 2016 election, the now President Trump was the best fit I can see. We could be “stuck” with far, far worse. And two, D. Triump isn’t a realtor by definition. He does own a brokerage and employs brokers and real estate agents but it’s doubtful if he actually has a real estate license. He is however, a real estate developer and investor which is quite different than being a simple realtor. Anyone with a little bit of initiative and a gift for gab can get a real estate license and be a decent real estate agent and later, a broker. It takes someone pretty special to invest in and develop real estate to the degree that Donald Trump has. Taking a couple of million and turning it into billions takes more than just a little bit of business savvy.
Maybe , she is playing Trump’s game with us ? He does things all of the time (like strange or misspelled words in his Twitters) that make every never-Trumper believe that he is just short of being a lunatic; but those same tweets actually DO mean something to the people who need to understand them. Even though he knows that the media will totally condemn or ridicule anything that he does, he continues. And he usually ends up with the result that he was looking for. Likewise, maybe AOC is playing games, and just wants her name and face to become well-known to everyone, and she certainly is accomplishing that. I don’t know what is going on with this woman; but I think that what we see is the proverbial “tip of the iceberg”.
OK From the Dems side think Warren will or could be a front runner in 2020 Be nice to see an native American win.
My wife is probably more native American than Elizabeth is, but .... I certainly think AOC is a game-player, but then many politicians are. That is how they get noticed. Just as her comment on the unemployment rate was nonsense, her campaign for "Medicare for All" is even more silly. It was stolen from Bernie, and what they really want is Medicaid for all, not Medicare. We don't have enough money, even if China were still buying our bonds, to pay for that scheme. She probably knows it is a ridiculous proposal, but she also realizes that Democratic politicians are seldom held to what they promise, and it is the promises and intentions that matter for Dems, not results. Republicans are held to results, and that is probably why Trump is so insistent in having something he can present as a wall since he promised it. Trump seems to have kept most of the promises he ran on in the election despite all the negative press, so we'll wait to see if he runs for a second term and if he wins should he do so.
I now know how long I have to live, provided that I live as long as it has been predicted. Joining the ranks of great prognosticators such as 7th Day Adventists who determined that Jesus was to come back nearly 40 years ago, and Art Bell and Al Gore who determined that we would not make it into the “teens” of the 21st century, we now have AO Cortez. Just a day or two ago, she decided to inform us that we only have 12 years left on this earth unless we spend the trillions of dollars needed to go totally green. Since I do not expect every country on this world of ours to do away with fossil fuels any time soon, there is little to worry about concerning whom might take up the mantle as the next president should D. Trump serve another full term. If indeed the world ends in 2031, the next president would only have a 3 years to abide by the edicts of those more knowing than I which to me, negates any need to even give much thought as to whom that person will be. Alas, I think I will spend much time on mentations such as the sex life of the Mexican Swamp Rat or who indeed put the bop in the bop-sh-bop-sh-bop for certainly, our life is over in a short period of time and I will choose to spend it enjoying myself. Once again, we are doomed but at least I can thank A. O. Cortez for her view through the crystal ball of liberal nonsense.
Do you think the plan might be to put the craziest of the crazies forward early so that whoever they end up with on Election Day seems sane by comparison?
