The Norse onslaught of Northern Spain as well as the later attacks on England in 866 might have been well known to Columbus through stories and sagas. With that in mind, journals or stories might have revealed other exploitations of the Vikings thereby having the ability to map those journeys so I do not see a conflict at all with your presumption.

Mostly right? It definitely exists. I am familiar with Ponce de Leon because I-10 goes right through there in the Florida panhandle. I've been taking that route to visit family since I was a kid.

LOL.....It’s in the wording. Yes, Ponce de Leon does exist much to my pleasant surprise, but it is classified as a town. I too have traveled I-10 extensively but for whatever reason, I must have blinked whilst traveling through it.

Well, in your previous post you only asked "why is there not a Juan Ponce de Leon Florida". I didn't notice any parameters.

    Carry on. :p

Went back and looked and I’ll be derned if I can find a parameters anywhere. Isn’t that when someone has an electric meter on his house and another on his garage....a parameters?

Anyway and all kidding aside, I did look back at it and no, I didn’t specify “ city” so I stand embarrassingly corrected by a graceful lady.

I, my dear lady, am a well trained husband!
I can face man and beast, conquer a dozen worlds, sail the seven seas, wrestle the devil himself and alas, when in the end, when all else is finished and the lady says it’s time to take out the garbage it still comes down to.....yes mam.

Well, Shug, you will never conquer the world that way. :)

I wonder if Columbus had a wife? :)

I began studying geography in the first grade and haven't stopped. By the by, archeologists are finding evidence that Pheoncians were here long, long before all the above mentioned.

I recall many maps being used used in conjunction with History classes . When I graduated High School I had a pretty good handle on Geography. I did considerable study on my own as well, because of my personal interest.

History and geography are linked since history happens in a geographic location. Teaching one includes the other if geography isn't taught separately.

I'm offended. You are trivializing a town three times the size of my hometown.
