@Lois Winters Money is in Washington a commonly exploited thing. Like the Clinton Crime Bill, a ten-year fiasco with an up-front price tag of something like $36,000,000,000 the purpose of which was to curb illegal firearms use. It entailed banning importation of "assault-style" rifles, banned ammunition magazines of over 10 rounds capacity (but grandfathered unknown billions of them already privately owned, no penalty on them), carrying the provision that after the Bill expired, Congressional reviews would determine it's effectiveness and whether to renew it. Time for "review", Congress did NOTHING, President ignored it, and Bill died, at a cost, of course. Frank
For someone who professes to be content with how things are, Cody, you sure spend a lot of time 'splaining your stance. Usually when a person thinks he's doing the "right thing", he just does it and doesn't feel the need to constantly justify it.
Yeah, of course you’re right but we do have this tendency to egg him on a bit don’t we? After all, this thing is on it’s 18th page with at least half of it from people like myself giving either suggestions or a critique which absolutely beg for a reply.
And, Bobby, I'm compelled to reply, even though my wife doesn't want me to. Also, just because a person/person's, on a forum suggests something to the OP, shouldn't ever mean the OP has to take it. Seems like there are many that, when the suggestion isn't accepted or understood, the OP gets criticized for not.
Perhaps either you take things too personally or may I suggest that you purposely (or not) open yourself up for controversy. Everyone on this forum has been criticized for something so if you somehow believe that you’re supposed to be immune from such things, it’s time to think things through a little better. @Mary Robi had a definite point because here you are, extending what was meant to be a very simple statement into a dog and pony show. When you have dug yourself into a hole.......quit digging.
The $600 additional unemployment benefit was part of the first stimulus package and has been in effect since then for people who lost their job due to the pandemic. It expires on July 31.
She has a phone interview next Wednesday, but the online requirements state "week workends and overtime", which she doesn't want either. I read online reviews of the company and the reviewers only give the company two stars out of five. IOW, definitely not a company I'd work for. But, will see what happens.
FINALLY!! My wife got a job, working from home with the salary she wants. It's a 3-month one. Two computer set-ups, 40-hours a week, with no overtime or weekends. We have turned our one bedroom into an office for her. She will be working for an insurance company that is, believe it or not, located in south Florida by the Gulf. And, an employment agency is handling the contract and they are in Chicago. She has the experience from the last company she worked for. It's been a year and a half since she left her Florida job. Now, she has to get back to getting up around 7AM to get her computers "up and running" by 8:30AM. To a point, we do hope this is just a 3-month job, because we definitely don't want our boating season to be interrupted. We like taking our boat out during the week, like we did last summer, not on weekends. Not only that, if everything goes ok, we have two trips planned for July and August.
Good for you and wife. We have a family member who trouble-shoots corporation software all over the world from his 'office' at home. The current health issues will result in a big increase of work-at-home jobs.
Well, for sure one thing it will definitely do is: Let her know if she can still work a full-time job or even work anymore at all. A 3-month temp job isn't exactly "resume" worthy, but she could put it on. Right now, one of the tough parts was setting up the computer system on our large (5'x3') glass dining room table that we have in a spare bedroom. Then, it took the company's IT person, 2 1/2 hours to get it all connected on our WiFi, along with passwords. I connected up both our laptop and our desktop, so I assisted both the IT person and my wife. She had never done this "connecting up" before. We can only wait and see how things go, but right now, the computer system is all ready to use.
I already knew that she was very good at "concentration", when she was using her personal computer for something, but now. She leaves the bedroom door open, right now anyway. When I have to run the dishwasher or do laundry, we will close it. I was in the kitchen making myself a little lunch. She already ate hers while watching a recorded episode of 25 Words Or Less at 12:30 in our living room. Anyway, I walked up to the door and asked her "Am I making to much noise in the kitchen"? She said, "Nope, don't hear a thing". Now, to me, that is great concentration on what she is doing! Then again, she does know how to "block out" noise.
