I remember Mike Wallace as aggressive but honest. My gripe would be with Chris Wallace's lack of honesty in presenting himself as a neutral moderator. He wasn't. I don't recall any especially liberal slant on Mike Wallace's part but my memory isn't the best. You could be right, Al.
CLEVELAND, OH—In a brilliant debate performance, candidate Joe Biden offered his most compelling case for election yet, saying: "If I am elected, you'll get to see what all my policy positions are!" After debate moderator Chris Wallace tried to set a diabolical trap for Biden by asking him for his policy positions, Biden shrewdly saw the trap coming a mile away and refused to answer the question. "Naw, that's a trap. A bunch of malarkey, I say!" Biden retorted. "I ain't gonna tell you nothin'. You'll just try to use my policy positions to make me look bad! Well, I ain't fallin' for it, Jack. No sir, no how." Biden went on to explain that his policies are a "special, secret surprise" and are so special and secret, even he himself doesn't know them yet.
Here's Steve Scully, the next debate moderator, and his good friend, Joe Biden. I have a feeling Joe won't be facing any scrutiny on that front, either.
It Looks Like the Second Debate Moderator Hates Trump Even More Than the First https://townhall.com/tipsheet/brons...hates-trump-even-more-than-the-first-n2577315 ... from the article: Meanwhile, the Commission on Presidential Debates is seeking to make changes to the upcoming debates. The commission isn't happy that President Trump managed to debate both Biden and the moderator effectively so they are toying with the idea of allowing Scully to cut the president's microphone whenever he feels like it.
For balance, there's this: Ted Cruz and an Army of Trumpkins Trash C-SPAN’s Steve Scully, the Next Presidential Debate Moderator https://www.thedailybeast.com/ted-c...scully-the-next-presidential-debate-moderator An unlikely Scully defender, meanwhile, was far-right firebrand Michelle Malkin, another Trump supporter, who exhorted: “Quit the lame attacks on @SteveScully of @cspan, who’s scheduled to moderate the next debate. He was a mailroom intern for Biden 42 yrs ago. So? I was a mailroom intern for Dem Sen Bill Bradley 29 yrs ago. Many good reasons to challenge biased debates. This is NOT one of them.”
Given that President Trump has tested positive for the coronavirus, there may not be a second debate.
Wow! Got a source for that, Ken? Lizzie Booker 1 week ago I'm noticing how msm refer to Former President Obama as President Obama and President Trump as Trump so disrespectful
1 There was some talk on the radio this morning about C. Wallace’s wife. It seems that she’s an elitist and loves to throw a ton of parties and with that, she’s a never Trumper. She’s the Bell of the Ball so to speak and wants to be in the favorable limelight in front of her friends. It’s a “derned if ya do and derned if ya don’t” kind of thing in that being the moderator gave him the prestige she wants so he couldn’t bow out if he wanted to because she wouldn’t have liked that because her friends might think lesser of him and by association, think less of her. And....since he Was the moderator he couldn’t show any semblance of decency toward the President because that too would have made her unhappy for the same reason stated above. Dunno. It was an opinion piece so who really knows?
At the same time, I'd like to think they could find someone on the planet who didn't have a relationship with one of the candidates. That's never the case, however. Debate moderators are always liberal media people who favor one particular candidate, or who have a bias against another. In 2016, one of them literally gave Hillary the questions in advance. Given that, in this case, there are only two candidates on the debate stage, that should be easy, and would be if a neutral debate was what they were actually looking for.
At the same time, I'd like to think they could find someone on the planet who didn't have a relationship with one of the candidates. That's the thing, exactly. There must be someone.
