I will have dinner in about one hour from now. It will be Pizza with a small salad. In the meantime I am enjoying a glass of Pinot Noir from Chile. I have never tried this winery before and it's a pretty good tasting Pinot Noir.

Lon, I like you because you're in your 80's like me! :p:D

But I won't drink those "sissy" wines...give me Port or nothing!

Oh yeah...I know about which drinks get you high...like Wild Turkey 101 Whiskey or Bacardi 151 Rum.

Try this for me Hal. I'll bet you like a good steak. True? Get your favorite cut and broil it medium rare. Get your self a $15 bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon wine to go with your steak & Baked Potato & grilled asparagus. I'll buy the wine. Send me the bill.

Thanks for the offer Lon, but the only kind of Steak I can cut and chew is Country Fried Steak, because it's Tenderized!

I always have it with a Baked Potato (butter only), and a Stein of Beer!

Wife has a glass if Zinfandel.

No, Lon...I can't accept your offer. I would much rather YOU pay for MY drink.

@Hal Pollner , the only use for rum that I know of is to pour on fruit cakes. It's excellent for that.

Is it white Zin or z=Z, @Hal Pollner? There is a BIG difference. Red Zinfandel is a rich, wonderful red wine, and white Zinfandel is a "rose" wine of less character.

LOL. If given the choice, Shrimp scampi goes well with the white Zin. Maybe to drink but much better to saute’ with. :)
Since it came out in a box, I always had some in the kitchen just for the saute’ station.

Probably the best wine I have ever had was a Zinfandel that was served in a restaurant in Santa Rosa, California. I saved the cork and have tried to find it out of that area, but apparently it is not sold outside the local area. It compared favorable with the French Bordeaux that I have had at over $200 a bottle, but was only $50. I also love the Silver Oak Cabernet.

I am sitting watching the news on TV and sipping a glass of a very different Spanish Red Wine before going down stairs to dinner. The wine is a wee bit sweet for my liking but I will take what is left in the bottle and take it to have with my dinner and share with a table mate if there.
I think I will have the Teriyaki Chicken with Pineapple/ Mashed Potatoes/Green Beans for dinner. Pudding & Fruit Parfait for desert.

I like & enjoy wine and think of it more as food than as a alcoholic beverage. Because of a huge breakfast this morning I skipped lunch and had some black olives, cheese, a few crackers & a glass of Chardonnay at 1 PM.
I will have my evening meal at 6 PM and have Grub Hub deliver the Thai Green Curry with pork dinner instead of eating in the dining room. I will enjoy at least two glasses of a white wine from Argentina that goes very well with spicy Asian foods. Ports, Sherries and Muscatel wines are too sweet to my taste and though they are nice to sip on by the fireplace I don't enjoy them.

You can have your Zinfandels, your Merlots, your Cabernets, and your Petit Noirs.

Give me a hearty Port, with an 18% alcoholic content, and I'll be happy with that sweet taste while I get a Buzz!
