Hyacinths to feed thy soul If of thy mortal goods, thou are bereft, and from thy slender store two loaves to thee are left, Sell one, and with the dole Buy hyacinths to feed thy soul. Moslih Eddin Saadi

“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but thought about it. Be aware of the thoughts you are thinking. Separate them from the situation, which is always neutral. It is as it is.” ― Eckhart Tolle
@Frank Sanoica, I came across this quote and thought of your question in a recent thread on religion.
When I was teaching at a rescue mission in Greenville, S.Carolina, a man came up to me and told me a sad story or rather, a sad story to him. To make it short, he asked God for a motorcycle so he could make it to work in a timely fashion and with less expense. He said that when he got to work that day, his boss presented him with a brand new 12 speed bicycle which upset him a little. Now, here’s the thing. He told me that he had asked God for a bike which was in his jargon, a motorcycle. His question to me was, “why, if God knows our heart, didn’t He know that the word bike meant a motorcycle”? My answer: Always be specific when asking God for anything and even though you may ask correctly, He only gives you as much as you can truly handle.”
