This one stuck out to me. 37. True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it’s thinking of yourself less. I reckon I was in the 11th grade, when I found my name was put up for the Unselfish Service award. I decided, that I couldn't vote for myself, so I voted for the other kid. It turned out that he won, and he later confessed that he had voted for himself. I was flabbergasted that someone could vote for themself....for an "Unselfish Service" award! To this day, I still have work to do to be more unselfish.
I remember my mother telling me as a kid that people always vote for themselves. I was shocked. In the yearbook I was the shyest girl in our class. Don't remember ever voting. Not something I was particularly proud of. In fact it wasn't true, imo. The caste system in our high school, prevented a large segment of the students from even being considered for such things.
